In most cases being trapped at a ski resort sounds like any skier's dream. However on Tuesday, for the 2,000 people currently stuck at the Monts d’Olmes ski resort in France, that dream came with one minor hiccup: The lifts are not even spinning.
On Tuesday around 8 p.m., a landslide was triggered in the French Pyrenees, per The Local France. The landslide was attributed to the heavy rain and snow from recent storms, and the debris consequently blocked the only access in and out of the popular resort, stranding thousands of skiers and snowboarders. According to The Local, authorities in the area were scrambling to clear the mud, branches, and rock debris by Wednesday evening.
Since emergency services are unable to reach the resort in the case of an accident, the resort remains closed. Leaving these poor stranded skiers and snowboarders left to their own devices, as they gaze at the empty slopes.
