It's that time of year again, where the entire snow sports industry heads to Denver for three days of good times and better gear. Check out some of the highlights from today's show. Be sure to come back tomorrow to learn what gear to place on your wishlist.
G3 Releases Scala LT
Last year G3 released their SCALA hybrid skin that had a scaled, molded piece of plastic at the tip which allowed the ski to pop over snow when breaking a new skin track. This year, they released the sequel: the SCALA LT Skins feature a slimmed-down version. The skin's seal prevents snow creep, which ensures your skins stay sticky for multiple laps.
Did Helly Hanson Make the Onesie Cool Again?
In honor of their 140th anniversary, Helly Hanson made a onesie. The Winter ULLR Onesie is modeled after their ULLR collection, which caters to the freeride skier. The onesie features a beacon pocket and high visibility accents. What I really like about this piece is a pocket on the front chest that keeps anything inside 3 times warmer than the air temperature. This means your phone will no longer die from cold. The pocket is also incorporated into their entire ULLR line.
Fischer's Ranger Series Gets a 115 Upgrade
When I first skied the Ranger line a couple of years ago I was hooked. The skis were fast and stiff, easily snapping over to rip up the entire mountain despite conditions. This year, Fischer has gotten rid of the Ranger 122 and replaced it with the 115. The narrower waist will hopefully make the ski a true quiver of one.
The wood core base is milled on both sides, allowing for a 25 percent weight change without losing any rigidity. The carbon nose has a thing profile and creates a lightweight torsional rigid ski.
Uvex Might Have Created Magic Goggles
The UVEX Variotronic goggles represent one of the most interesting applications of technology in the eyewear game. The goggles instantly switch between eight different settings depending on the light conditions. They run on a small battery that lasts up to 20 hours before a recharge. The battery is very small, I didn't even notice it at first. Excited to see how these hold up in the mountains.
FlyLow Couples Its Classic Style With New Technology
I can't lie. I have always looked forward to what FlyLow brings to the show. Last year the small-ish Colorado-based brand couldn't keep their new Roxy bib in stock. And now this year they have implemented a new type of fabric into their Chemical Coat and Plant called event. The product allows for 30k waterproofing with an unleveled breathability, a perfect combo for those in Tahoe area.
