It’s been discussed for several weeks now in the Real Estate thread, but the big news in my life is that I bought my own private island. I never, ever envisioned myself owning an island, but I gotta admit, not having any neighbors is soooo nice.
This island really cool. 7 acre island plus a tiny 1/8 acre lot on the shore for access. It’s on the same chain of 6 interconnected lakes as my Mom’s condo. My grampa’s old cabin is on the same chain of lakes as well.
No buildings have ever been built on it. It is zoned Residential, so the county building rules apply plus the setbacks from the lake required by the DNR. Trees are mostly white pine, with some hardwoods mixed in.
Haven’t really decided what to do with it. Probably off grid cabin. Definitely hosting next summer’s Midwest Maggot Fishing Summit.
