Any chance for a CT104 tour? Love my WCT104 but would like to be able to stick the tails in the snow sometimes…
Nice. That Pivot colorway is a perfect match.
Picked up a pair of Commander 92s this summer--finally got about 10 days on them so far, and wanted to write up my thoughts for you all. Me: 6', 175#, former racer, ski 70+ days a year, 40yo. I skied these mostly at Killington (my home mountain). I went with the 182s, mounted on the line.
These replaced a pair of Fischer Ranger 94FRs as my DD. I have a pair of cheater GS skis, so I don't use these ONLY to carve groomers--they are a firm snow all mountain ski. I liked the 94RFs because they had a ton of energy from turn to turn, and they let me make small turns down the side of the groomers to make the most out of refrozen conditions (side pow! iykyk...). I wanted something that could hold an edge better and be a little more stable, especially when I open it up.
The C92s are really really fun skis. They roughly approximate my race skis making GS/SG turns down firm groomers--great edge hold and very stable. But they are EXTREMELY forgiving for how strong they are. Throwing it sideways at any moment is no problem, and skiing bumps and crud does not feel punishing. In softer crud, they really absolutely rock--big stable GS turns through the chop are no problem. Yes, the tails are strong and if you get thrown back you have to get back to center or you're gonna be hurting. But if you drive them properly, they'll do whatever you want them to.
They lack a little bit in the "pop" department, especially compared to the 94FRs, which are like giant springs. But i'm enjoying the added suspension. I also find it difficult to change the carved turn shape. Stated radius is 18 but it feels a little bigger to me -- even when I try to bend the ski hard, I still can't get that "tight GS" radius without stivoting or picking up my feet. But because the tails are so forgiving, i'm not finding it punishing to ski the "side pow."
All in all, I think they're a very approachable, versatile, and intuitive ski for a strong skier. People should not be put off by the marketing copy that makes it seem like they're some sort of carving ski. They're not--they really are a great skinny all mountain ski. 182 is shorter than I usually ski for an all mountain ski, but it feels like the right length for me and I wouldn't want the 188s for any reason.
Great write up, AlecO! I have a few days on my C92 188’s and agree with your impressions. I’m 6’, 180 or so, NOT a former racer, and feel that I probably would have been better off with the 182… The 188 is a super ski, but when conditions go from firm to icy, the skis can be tough to keep on track and get a bit chattery. I’m probably not bending them/committing to the carve enough (NOT a former racer!) tho.
If you love the Deathwish in 184, are you going 182 or 188 in Countach 104?
I'm about 5'10 and 185 lb ish

Yeah I sorta struggle to see who the 188 is for, except the quite tall among us. I certainly haven't skied through the limit of the 182. And it's already a pretty heavy ski, so adding length would probably make them feel pretty cumbersome to flick sideways or in any tight terrain. Where I really like length is going very fast through deeper soft chop -- but that's just not really the use case for this 92mm ski.
Luckily, is see that the 182s are on sale here! (Not as good of a sale, but still...) https://www.momentskis.com/collectio...2-graphic-blem

Is anyone interested in trading their 190 Wildcat for my 194 CT (110 last years topsheet)? My CT have 4 days on them and would like to trade for something in good/excellent condition.
Got a nickel size core shot on my DW104's yesterday. Time for a trip down to Moment for some love. I'm ready for more snow. We were doing pretty good until the rain this week.
