Oh the threat's been made but Ms Boissal is masterful at conflict resolution and talked everyone off the ledge. I'm not a rational actor in this situation so I let her handle it while plotting a move to Montana or somewhere real remote. If she's satisfied as the mother & medical professional, I'll fall in line, and hold a perpetual grudge.
The only person who is going to burn a bridge with guilty grandma is other grandma though. My mom was ready to hop on a flight from France to put the smackdown on her US-based counterpart and rescue her grand daughter. She's already announced that next time she's in the US she's not going to dinner with "these people".

Just remember that your MIL isn't intentionally being an ass, she's just a moran. Hope that helps.

Ugh. I'd be so friggin' pissed. Hope your baby doesn't have any lifelong bs to deal with from covid. And hope you can avoid it, too.

I bet that sounded absolutely biblical in her native tongue.

Our niece pulled that one on us last winter--my wife went to visit, a couple of the family were sick, my wife got sick as soon as she got home, then I got sick and had to cancel my cousin's ski visit--hours before his flight departed. Niece clais tests were negative and maybe they were if they took them too soon, but the timing and the fact my wife didn't see anyone else the week she was down there makes the source of her covid quite clear.

KILLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Twenty-three skiers and snowboarders had to be rescued in frigid temperatures on Saturday after becoming lost in the backcountry in Killington, Vermont, police said.

After a call came in around 2:30 p.m., search and rescue crews hiked, snowshoed and used skis with skins to travel about 5 miles (8 kilometers) to bring a group of 21 lost skiers and riders back to safety, Killington police posted on Facebook. Temperatures were in the single digits.

The group of skiers and snowboarders, which included about six juveniles, warmed up in the Killington Fire Department’s heavy rescue truck and search and rescue members’ vehicles while they waited for their rides.

Unsure is this annoys or amuses… glad they’re safe, but WTF… Ikonic lemmings??

Really, really good BC. The High Peaks of the Greens have amazing terrain and fantastic trees (when the snow is right which isn't often enough). When you get to the Northern Greens it's as good as any other ski zone in the country with reliably deep snow.

That has to be a group of Boy Scouts, right? Nobody else could be that useless in the woods.

As someone who spent 5 winters as a Smug/Stowe/Jay skier, no its not. Good? Yes. If its your favorite, great. But if you really want to stand by that, start a new thread and we will make a list.

    Agree. I can’t wait for self-driving vehicles.

Ok, when the snow is right it's really (really) good. Better?

Re: fully autonomous vehicles - Wouldn't you rather redirect the resources to figuring out teleportation? Save the travel time completely and get to ski wherever the snow is best anywhere on the planet whenever you want.

I already have solar panels on my roof and yet I still seem to get 3 or 4 door to door salesman per year trying to sell me solar panels who haven't even bothered to look up at my roof.

^^ I'd probably answer the door, listen to them and say something like "Please don't vote, we deserve better" as I close the door on them.

Damn Boissal! Hope your little one is ok.

I’m not a parent but that was triggering for me…My 3 m/o nephew (who spent the first days of life in NICU, had a surgery or two, and spent almost a month in the hospital before going home) got covid over the holidays from our SIL’s family. SIL knew her hubby and kids were sick but still showed up w/ her sick kids. I don’t know why but my other SIL decides to bring her 3 m/o to the parties with her family who DGAF about others cause of Jesus and MAGA. Sure enough the 3 m/o gets covid after all he’s already gone through.

But the grandparents prayed a lot for the little guy to recover. Pretty sure the SIL who got the guy sick hasn’t spent more than 5 seconds reflecting on it. What the fuck ever.

I’m frustrated with everyone in that situation. Actually hadn’t thought about it for a while and now I’m all worked up. Fuck.

The babe is doing better, no fever in the past 4 days but she's still crushed, her naps are all 2.5 to 3 hours long and she's gone from the most pleasant baby to an incessantly whiney one. She's now waking up 2 to 3 times a night and won't go back to sleep again until held for a while. She gets heinous coughing fits that wake her up, and she pukes 1/2 her food due to coughing. Shit has not been fun.
I came down to the office today after finally testing negative. Wearing a mask cause I'm still a sniveling mess, and 3 coworkers so far have given me shit for it, first pretending to run from me in fear then joking that I don't need the mask and it will all be fine. Apparently it's just like the flu. Fuckers, I haven't had the flu in 15 years but if involves 36 hours of high fever and a throat that feels like someone poured gasoline down it then lit it on fire (like this round of COVID) I'm pretty sure I'd rather not get it...

Ive had covid twice (that i know of at least). Each time, it was not as bad as a standard flu, and not in the same ballpark as a couple bad flu's ive had in the past 15 years. The flu is no fucking joke... which is why it kills so many people each year. Same with RSV- it was milder for me than a standard flu (though the weezing and coughing fits were a little scary if im being honest).

I wouldnt want to give any of them to anybody, and it should be common sense/courtesy to try doubly hard not to get the very old/young sick.

Sorry, its a pet peeve for people to poopoo influenza in light of covid. Flu/Covid/RSV all can and do really fuck people up
