How do we feel about ebikes without the battery used on non-ebike trails (e.g., Transition Relay)?

It's like carrying your bike through wilderness. It's fine, and it's legal, but you're just gonna have to expect that there will be complications if you run into someone who cares.

That makes sense. I am curious to see if that type of ebike catches on. I’m intrigued, but haven’t talked to anyone that’s actually used one in that capacity. 38lbs without the battery doesn’t sounds too bad.

So if im trolling, what are we calling Karenificant Conocorn's , and others, disengenuous biased non factual take on emtb's ? Asking for a friend. Also, my friend could probably give uou a couple "pro" tips on how to get a full workout on an emtb, and if time sllows, how to get it "down" a trail

So I read the first three pages of the thread and the last two.....feels like it turned into a fight over eMTBs....correct?

Just to confirm, there were no changes to regular bike access? If not, the eMTBs will eventually come back, especially as the classes become more known. Even if it is only specific classes that are allowed.

With that said...if you have been to Moab lately (and you don't own a SxS yourself)...you likely can see how it has ruined the town and such a great place. I would be all for every trail (not read road) within 30 miles of Moab being closed to all motorized vehicles.

There was a recent thread on mtbr by a guy whose battery went dead during a ride and he found it surprisingly hard to pedal out. Shocker. Lol

I never had problems with motorized vehicles before SXS came along. Being there during jeep week was a bit annoying but also fun watching them conquer obstacles with skill. Jeeps and other 4x4 drive pretty slow off road. Saw a few motos on slickrock but they were never an issue either, never seemed to see them anywhere else.

SXS on the other hand bring a whole other crowd. No concept of trail etiquette. I've been dusted out by big groups of them countless times and come within inches of being run over twice. In destinations like Moab and SWCO they're fucking everywhere tear assing around. Hopefully the trend of restricting them continues.

I say every man, woman, and child in Moab should be issued Schrader Core removal tools, and be directed from birth to always remove an SxS valve core whenever and wherever possible.

Good point on the speed of 4x4s vs SxS. Very very few trucks can off-road at comparable highspeeds to a SxS.

Maybe some sort of rule that non highway legal vehicles are restricted to specific spots or something.

If I weren't afraid of being shot, I'd say this is a great suggestion. Around here the SxSs appear to be sold equipped with big flags that say "Fuck Biden" and "Fuck Your Feelings".

God, those things just bring out the worst in people and allow them to really spread it around.

This is one of the funniest threads on TGR in years. I so enjoy watching how effectively Grinch and XXer and others change the worlds feelings on mopeds, it just never seems to get old.

Got passed by this yesterday. Still not sure what to make of it, but the whole experience seemed relevant.

During COVID one of those was going the opposite direction of me at slick rock. I think I’d want poles!

Me too until this overweight guy on an E-bike passed me going up the climb towards Hazard County and crushed my sensitive and fragile ego, now I'm extremely angry and I'm posting on the Internet about my hate for bikes.

These people are literally making me look bad on strava damnit!

Cause all the Canukastanians were up north.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

true that ^ up at the ski hill I worked on a movie clean up for " The Grey " where they rented a Polaris ranger with the driver from a tree planting outfit and the speed that thing could get up a T-bar line that was covered in rocks the size of your head with 6 people/ gear was truly amazing , normaly the tree planters use them to deliver trees and planters around the blocks

BTW if you havent seen the Grey ... don't
