    There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware

And yes it’s a Stills song

Same story for me. I first saw Neil with Sonic Youth opening, along with everyone else in Seattle, about the time that I figured out he was an artist that transcended time & trends.

So I am gonna go 2000s:

    Last time I saw Elvis
He was shooting at a color TV

[Yes, I actually like a bunch of stuff from Prairie Wind. It's haunting. And I believe it's from after Neil Motherfucking Young survived brain cancer or some such thing In your face, Cancer! Take that!]

Ya, I'm fucking with you. Stephen Stills, not Neil Young.

Godfather of grunge. Punk before there was punk. [Yes, I know, there were contemporary proto punk bands at the time.]

Since a few people brought up Buffalo Springfield and Stills, I’m more of a Stills fan than a NY fan. Neil Young called Stills a genius btw

Compared to some of you old farts here I’m still a young whippersnapper, but I’ve still seen Neil live twice: once with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

The other was solo - just him all by himself on the stage - and that was amazing. I’ve only seen a couple other performances with a single person on stage, and they sounded like it was a single person on stage. But Neil playing guitar by himself, you’d have guessed there was someone playing rhythm offstage or something.

Anyway, if you haven’t listened to Neil Young before you should, and Harvest is his most critically acclaimed album, so a good place to start. But Live at Massey Hall is awesome. Or just put on Decade to get the early greatest hits.

    Love Buffalo Springfield

    NY is a generational songwriter
But his voice is like fingernails on chalkboard to me

I will admit it took some time for me to truly appreciate his falsetto voice and his unique way of interpreting lyrics. He is indeed one of a kind. A master.

Well I dreamed I saw the knights in armor comin'
    Sayin' something about a queen
There were peasants singin' and drummers drummin'
And the archer split the tree
There was a fanfare blowin' to the sun
That was floating on the breeze
Look at Mother Nature on the run
    In the 1970s
When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

That's the shit! I would say it's 'Dope', but that's got a different meaning for NY, and out of respect for him and the friends he (and many of us) have lost to the needle, I feel funny using it.

    My oldest surviving concert shirt!
Picked this up on my way out of Great Woods in 1986. I was lucky enough to catch three Crazy Horse shows in the 80’s.

There, I fixed it for you. Musical preference is purely subjective. By your logic anyone that’s more popular than someone else is factually better. Makes you sound stupid

    Buffalo Springfield--

I'm not a big fan of Richie Fury's singing but the pedal steel and piano knock me out.
And on the subject of pedal steel--as good as I've heard on any classic country tune

They say the two hardest things to learn are pedal steel and flying a helicopter. I figured I would learn pedal steel but never got past Dobro--and not very far with that.
