The TBI is sweet as there's no carb to fettle with, but you still must pre-mix which I don't like. I want to put oil in one tank, fuel in the other, and go ride.
We had a campfire conversation about this in the Dez last weekend. How TF are snowmobiles FI systems just leaps and bounds ahead of 2T dirtbike systems still?

Weight. Sleds are 500# plus, so a few pounds of weight isn't a biggie. Everyone would complain about that on a dirtbike. Some people still buy SX models and use them for Enduro to save the weight of the starter.

Our campfire crew agreed on a different but important reason although yours holds water as well....

FI for sleds only has to be dialed for WFO, that's how you run a sled. Trail riding a dirtbike is 1/8 throttle, 1/4 throttle, 1/8 throttle, then a snappy WFO is needed. The 2 stroke FI systems hasn't perfected this small but important nuance when trail riding a dirtbike.

Came across a pretty good deal on a CRF300L a few days ago and snapped it up. Stoked!

The Versahaul was falling apart after my last trip so I ordered a custom carrier from Joe Hauler. Picked it up last week. It's elevated 3" vs the standard hauler and angled up slightly. This provides better departure angle as did angling up the rear tie down bars. It also has a hitch receiver on the rear end so I can plug a MTB rack into it as well. So much more solid than the Versahaul.

i like the looks of that bike carrier evdog! might have to ante up as mine has seen better days.

rolled some miles out by mesquite, NV last weekend on the new 2-stroke. Bike is pretty damn fun and could hang w the big bikes for the most part.

Had to dig to find this thread...why's it in the ski/board forum???

Anyways, here is some stoke from the last week. Got out toward Palm Springs area and did some moto-sploring around Joshua Tree and Mecca. First real dirt (sand) for the 300L.

Started off with some miles along the Coachella Canal

Found a couple of OHV trails that are cherry stemmed through Wilderness areas. Mecca Copia trail was one, had some nice open desert riding and then followed some sandy washes.

This led into Godwin Trail. More sand, but also some cool canyons. Had a few no speed tip overs in the sand. This bike has about 3.5" taller seat height than the old one so if my foot sinks when I put it down in deep sand its easy to lose balance and then I'm SOL.

Godwin climbed out of the washes and then followed some powerline road along the base of the badlands which was actually pretty fun

The next day's loop was up into Joshua Tree backcountry. Up Pinkham Canyon and around to JTree Cottonwood visitor center.

Then out of the park and onto Red Canyon Trail right across the freeway

Red was pretty cool, just one section of sand then the rest was pretty fast and fun. Got onto some ridgelines above Red Canyon which offered some nice views

Red color finally spotted further up the canyon

Eagle Mtn Railroad trestle bridge is about all that's left from the abandoned rail line

Found a campsite up Berdoo Canyon. Explored up that and into the park by MTB instead of moto.

Fun trip, nice to get out on the moto for some real riding and not just setting up a MTB shuttle : )

So, so long ago. I visiting my parents in Loveland Colorado. I had left my bike there. It was a 900f. Honda. Pretty bad ass at that time. I was stationed at offut afb. In Nebraska. So I take it out to Fort Collins. To a place called the Library. I met a girl. We’re going to her place. Duh. So heading north out of Fort Collins. Desolate two lane road. I’m doing a hundred and something. There’s a car up in the distance I dropped the gears done to 3rd. Flip the turn signal on. And railed in the left lane. Grab 4th gear. Red line

So rural road. Car throws a uturn. Right in front of me. Right there all I see is car. Sideways across the road. I’m going over a hundred with a girl on my back. There was no where to go. I just grabbed the brakes. And laid it hard to the right. I’m sorry I’m gonna die. And I new it. And I’m going to take this poor girl with me. And then 50 yards before I hit. I lock the front wheel. The bike goes down. And skids out in front of me. I’m in my belly with the blond on on my back. Hands in my pockets. Bike hits the rear wheel of the car. Lifting into the air. And we go right underneath the car. And another hundred plus yards down the road. Me on my belly her on my back. With her arms underneath me. I remember everything. Every millisecond to this day. Nobody fucking walks away from that. I was supposed to slam into the side of a car at 100 mph. I wasn’t even scuffed up. But that poor girl. After they let us out of the hospital. I slept with her that night. Anyway

So why did I type that. I want people to understand who I am. Really. I’m not supposed to be here. Every day since that day. Is a blessing and a horror. And I live that way.

Cool TR! My parents used to live down La Quinta and now that they’ve moved to Summerlin, I regret not taking my KTM 790 down there and riding all those areas you posted.
