After living there for a dozen years here's my list of favorite Boulder eat and drink items.

Ahi-Tuna Chimichanga @ Jax Fishouse (or the old school Tuna entre which I am pretty sure is only available Monday)
Tapas / Pizza @ the Med
    Kind Crippler @ Mountain Sun
    Breakfast @ Lucile's
Big Fish Burrito @ Illegal Petes
Espresso drinks from Vics or Trident
    Happy Hour @ Boulder Cafe
    Margs @ Rio Rooftop
Garlic Fries + a Cocktail @ The Kitchen Upstairs (downstairs requires reservation)
Beef and Bean Burrito @ Effrians II
Chicken Enchilada (w/egg on top) @ Zolo
Steak and Cheese or Prime rib @ Salvagios
Southwestern Turkey Sandwich @ Boulder Creek Market
    Drinks @ West End
Asian Lunch Feast @ Chez Thuy
    Rueben @ Jimmy and Drews
Oggling of staff @ Braserie ten-ten
    Pizza + Beer @ Protos

FKNA, hev, you nailed so many (the ones below are ones I endorse, or have heard I should endorse, like the Reuben at Jimmy and Drews). The Kind Crippler is definitely their best beer, IMO, but it's kind of funny that it's not actually a beer they brew (for those wondering, it's a mix of two beers, Kind and XXX).

I would add ogling of the staff at the Med, too.

catacombs, the pub or connor o'neils for dive bar atmosphere. corner bar for more upscale drinking. the attic for a late night place. mountain sun or boulder drafthouse for really good beer.

adding to the list of food, amu sake house (next to zanmai) is fucking awesome! authentic japanese sushi, no rolls or that bullshit. but its so fucking good.

and dubbin's for late night sandwiches. its that window on pearl and 13th. the owner is a friend of mine and an awesome guy. makes a kick ass sandwich. i think hes serving soups now also. cash only, but hits the spot after a night of drinking.

Danno, have you been to Jax lately? That staff has some serious talent, too. (although the Med is a crowd-pleaser any day you go in)

much cheaper ogling at the med. don't make it to jax very often and if I go, it'll be with the gf, making it to tough to drool too much.

i didn't think jalino's was very good. they use canned jalapenos! i worked at cosmos for about a year, so i'm biased there. if you want to see a the largest concentration of underage drunk idiots go there at 1am on a friday night, not dark horse

Boulder is at its best in the summer. The students are gone, and the town is just hopping. You can bike everywhere on cruiser bikes on bike paths, the hiking is just awesome, climbing if you're in to that, great mt biking within a short drive, rooftop bars, it's just a fun place to be. Yeah, no skiing (or at least not unless you work hard for it ). But as much as I love skiing, if it is your absolute only consideration, you don't move to Boulder.

Sounds fun ... maybe I'll take a couple weeks w/out pay and do the Rockies road trip I always wanted to and bring my bike, or bikes!

Anyone want to grab beers on Friday 4/12?

I'm finally visiting CO for work ... staying in Boulder on Friday night (4/12), and then wandering around town during the morning/day before flying out at 5:30 PM on Saturday.

I guess, by this old thread, I am still planning on checking out Salt/Kitchen and So. Sun.

    Boo yeah ...

I would totally be interested, except I'm out of town for a conference.

Perhaps, but my favorite times to go to the mountains when there's no snow are the 4th of July and Thanksgiving.

I'm down. I am partial to Upslope, then again I live a block from them. Better barhopping can be found downtown for sure... Mountain Sun would be my vote.

For cocktails, Bitter Bar is far ahead of the rest. Start the evening there with a vieux carre (or have the bartender mix you up something else... their recommendations have never steered me wrong). West End Tavern, right around the corner on Pearl, has an insane bourbon and whiskey list if you feel like doing some taste tests. And Oak at 14th also has a great cocktail program going, just a few blocks down the Mall.

Have fun! Small chance I might be able to make it out, so post here or PM where you end up.

Bitter bar is nifty. It's been said before elsewhere, but avoid the food at west end tavern at all costs. Went with a group of 8 one time and just about everyone had 2 or 3 bites of their food, and I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu (It was on OpenTable's bill).
