Used chair 4, 6 days in a row last week, for maybe 3 days they they did not groom to the top of 4 I presume to help the snow at the top last. They farmed fair bit of snow to keep a route down under 2. Seems to me they worked a bit harder than usual to keep it going another week.

    Skiing was great beyond 4

I used to distain the MR until we were sharing a Funi early season one year with Travis Ganong, who was lapping it. If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me. (I think he got in more laps than we did.)

My kiddo was always a fan of that, or from the top of Emigrant to make it a full top to bottom run. That run can be fun early spring mornings before it has people on it and before it becomes sticky as it passes the base of Headwall.

Night laps through the park down MR to beat the Cable Car was all time fun at PT. Almost as good as having the pool open to pass holders

Hell, the pool and hot tub used to be open to ticket buyers as well once mid April hit. Used to bring up some beers in the morning and bury them in the snow in some trees, and then pick them up right before the lifts closed and ski over to High Camp hit up the hot tub.

Was the pool / tub a Covid casualty never to return? I used to do the same but kind of forgot about it.

Hah. There are some major technical difficulties up there. Some pipes seemed to have burst and made a big mess in the basement at high camp a few weeks ago. Almost took out a few tones of salt stored there for spring ski racing. Lucky they were stored on pallets and slightly above the 3+ inches of standing water. Yikes.

High Camp has been in decline for years. The excess of that era isn't for today's corporate model. Cushing kept that dream alive, and now the place is in such disrepair I don't ever see the glory days coming back.

I guess '03 was a different kind of season.

Capital Public Radio had a short story about High Camp last week.

reminds me I gotta ride the tram at least once this season…

Back in the High Camp heyday when you could use the user-controllable webcam to zoom in on the women lounging around in bikinis up there in the summer.

Guessing that Build Back Better™️ won't cover this.

HC would be a great spot for luxury hotel or condos.

was heading to the pass but when I got to the firster pass at 12:30 I was first there. Josh Daiek pulled up behind and did a lap while I got ready. Then I got called off of work and did a mini golf lap with nacho too.

Not sure if that was serious or tongue in cheek but honestly I’d be fine with that… not a horrible idea if they had a nice public restaurant and bar with a view people could go to. Similar to the Ritz at Gnarstar. I suppose the lack of any service road could be problematic…

^^doubt it. This was in their blog last Friday
Alpine’s last day of winter operations will be Sunday, April 17th.
This weekend we will be spinning Summit, Roundhouse, Treeline Cirque, Yellow, Alpine Bowl Chair, Meadow & Big Carpet. Mid-week, we may drop a few of those depending on conditions.

That is the most aggressive line I've ever seen in snow snake. Impressive video work.
