Rod review
In case anyone is interested. 6 wt
Scott Centric 906 FB for the win! Might be one of the easiest and powerful rods I've cast. Started out with that one. Long casts, easy, unbelievably accurate. Next did the Sage 691. 5 casts and i was done. Felt just like the Z Axis I just got rid of. The 690 was much better, landed the first fish of the day on it. Not as easy to cast nor as accurate IMO. didn't even need to false cast the Scott. Pick up line, put the flies RIGHT where I wanted them. Really nice tip action when playing the second fish. Then changed up and swung some soft hackles. Had a fish slam it and broke off 4x. Then saw some risers. Put on #16 para adams and #20 Mole fly. Fished close and the rod loaded so easily that I could. Then saw a riser quite a ways away against the bank behind a small rock. Dropped the fly right on its nose. For such a soft tip I was blown away by how powerful it is at distance w a typical nymph rig. Or maybe it's not soft but just the fast action? Don't know, don't care. It's mine now.Last edited by guide; 03-20-2021 at 07:19 AM.

Am I posting in the right thread?
I’m interested to know if anyone’s cast the Gary Loomis Edge rods.
Specifically I’m interested in the 3 and 4 weight.

Broke my streamer rod last weekend for third time. My bad for not following the SFB guidelines of pulling the rods out of boat prior to heading back to camp. Backup streamer rod is a noodle. Will buy another if the right one comes along. In 5 years, half full Yeti 2, Sage One 0. Other bust was me learning not to high stick large trout to bet with this rod. Brittle stick for careless owner.

Not in the market for another $800+ fly pole, but I’m interested in how it compares to the Radian. If it’s even possible to compare.

It's like an 8+ weight salmon/steelhead rod. My arm used to get blown out in an hour using it when we lived on the Tolt.
Having kids kind of got in the way of doing much fly fishing, but now that they're paradults, I'll have time.
I've got a few other old bamboo rods, a 9', 6+ weight Wright & McGill Granger, a mysterious 5 section 10' buggy whip called 'The Deacon' by Ken Myers, a Horrock & Ibotsen 9' 6 weight and another old Orvis.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

When I was little, my dad built a cabin on a lake in Minnesota. His best buddy helped who was an avid outdoorsman, a Canadian from Kenora and Winnepeg. He taught me to fish and shoot at an early age, my dad wasn't much into that having been raised in the slums of Manhattan. By age 10 I'd picked up fly fishing, by 12 I tied flies poorly. I was a fiend. On lakes I caught a lot of crappies, bluegills and largemouth bass. Then I discovered creek fishing for trout. I've wasted hours following the bends.
Then our first house was on a steelhead river and we used to let people fish there. I got super sick of "sportsmen" fishing with bait out of season, keeping teensy fish and watching the decline of the fishery. So between that and having kids and selling that house, I stopped fishing.
Now, I have more time and there's a decent drift and series of pools 10 minutes from my house. I just dug up the old rods and an old Hardy Marquis reel from my stash and was just messing around with stuff. I need new lines and leaders and I have no idea where my flies are....Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski
