Any of you fools smoke a non weed pipe?
Was given the brides grandfathers pipe collection and it sat for 2 years in our house. Got inspired and procured some fine cherry pipe tobacco. Call me a crusty fuck but I am sitting on the back deck smoking and I think I enjoy it…….

I procured a pipe from a friend's relative about 15 years ago and enjoyed it immensely... until my throat started to hurt, when I gave it up. But yes, there's something soothing about sitting on the back porch with nothing to do but blow smoke rings. And the tobacco tastes better than cigs, cigars, etc. Also, I really enjoy the way it smells.

Yup. I've been working in a cigar/pipe shop for years. I travel with a pipe, as it's much more compact and less fragile than cigars.
Is the cherry a straight cavendish?

not a fan of the fruit flavors, but a nice blend though. pleasant enough every once in a while.

i had a professor who would, when he was ready to talk to someone, take the pipe out of his mouth and tuck it into his jacket pocket. When the conversation was over, he'd pull the pipe back out and return to his smoke.
as far as i know, he never burned the school down
tho i always expected i'd hear of him burning something one day

I smoked a pipe for about 2 years in college. Nothing like sitting on the porch on a fall afternoon with a pipe, a 6 pack and a couple friends ogling girls.
I always preferred English pipe tobacco over the more flavored stuff. Still delightfully aromatic and smooth, but much more of a traditional pipe smoke aroma and flavor.
This thread makes me want to pick some up on my way home, still have that pipe in my dresser.
Just get a glass one and some kind and mark it zero. My $0.02.

Used to smoke one years ago and still have it someplace. If you really start to enjoy it you will need at least two pipes so that the bowl on one can be drying out while you are using the other one.

I smoked a churchwarden for years; nice long cooling stem. I felt like a wizard.

So the collection is like 40 pipes. Im going to rotate thru all summer. Tonight I resemble a Norwegian fisherman. Packing the bowl as we speak…. New baby and wife are upstairs asleep… I will be sipping a Midleton's and smoking in 5….

Same here. Check out Frog Morton by McClelland. If you can't find any nearby, shoot me a PM.
OP - if the Borkum Riff bites your tongue, try mixing it with black cavendish. It's a vanilla that smokes much cooler, and will mellow out the cherry bite.
Another classic aromatic is captain black.
I feel the beginnings of a TGR pipe club...

I've got a couple Peterson's, a couple Nordings, and a few other assorted I can't remember what at the moment. Haven't smoked them in years though. Always liked them most when drawing icy cold air, like at 10pm in the parking lot after rallying groomers night skiing. Favorite tobacco was I think called "Carl's Blend," named after some guy who worked in the shop. Used to make the trip into the city to buy it from a (now long-since defunct) shop in the Everett Mall...which then moved down to tukwilla, and then to issaquah before finally going out of business. Had to chase that blend all over. Wish I had written down what was in it.
