The 58. Nobody caught per patroller I spoke to. It happened very soon after they opened the gates under the chair, and then they closed them immediately after that for the rest of the day. I'm not sure how big it was, but assume not huge because the debris wasn't obvious from the chair after it happened.

Agree quality was great. So many face shots.

But I've never seen so much inbounds movement. Today's inbounds sluffs/slides (four), buddy released one and I saw three running, are more than I've seen added together, and bigger. When the little valley I was about to cross has a 50 foot wide slide slowly running in it, how long should I wait before skiing across the debris field? My trail map says nothing about this. Other skiers reported more slides. Spooky to me

We did it all wrong today. Got to SB at 8 and lined up inside the gates. Lift spun at ~10. Got one really deep lap and dipped to Christmas Tree for a couple before leaving at 11 to get to PTOV for teams. Got the cancelation call at noon while having a burrito. Headed home and built a kicker with the kids.

I saw things slide today that I didn't know could slide. Watched a patroller get caught on the nose, lose a ski and fire his airbag. He had to be dug out at the bottom.

All in, I should have just stayed home, but it is hard to pick the epic days from the not epic days.

I expect a PTOV junk show tomorrow at opening. Hopefully the mountain gets open and stability improves. I'll be the coach in the tan WhatVest. Say hi if you see me.

Total redemption yesterday. Easily the best day of the season and we never touched upper mountain, the untracked snow is so deep you pretty much have to straight line anything under 30 degrees.

My family is skipping to PT junk show today. It should be really good out there, but I have to imagine they will set another attendance record.

Monday/Tuesday are lining up. Game on!! Miracle March is a go!!

high quality frozen H20 at the Wood today. Yesterday (Fri) was kinda funky and I got a flat tire on the way up which turned a full day into a half day <grumble> and then poor viz made me feel ill for some reason. But today was primo. Finally got down Once is Enough this season and skied a bunch of sweet pow. Some wind effect and thickness here and there but stayed cold and cloudy and bit of wind too but mostly great all over and pretty deep in the trees. Typical weekend pow day junk show getting into the valley, sold out parking but not really that busy on the hill.

PT-OV was ying and yang on Saturday. All time on the on KT-22 with both the conditions and the line length. The wind dynamic allowed areas to be reset all day long. Upper Mountain closure really put the pressure on Red Dog and the Mothership.

Lost tent, round 2. Its a 15 person Mountain Hardware Space Station, basecamp style dome tent. Red/orange & white.

Looks like it blew away in the high winds, and was picked up sometime last thursday or friday. Had it pitched across the street from Mt. Rose Ski Resort, near fireplug. Anyone have hot tips on better snow anchors? lol

KT skiing so damn well this morning. 5 runs before line got deep. I was expecting to hit bottom but didn’t. Woot. Now waiting out upper mountain with everyone else. Come Palisades, open it up!

Kirkwood was so good today. No lines, just face shots in the gullies and snow that got deeper all day long.

Was it still snowing when you left? That looks way more filled in than before this cycle.

So you knew the tent blew away and you're confident someone picked it up ? Cause I saw it last Wednesday caught in the trees. Can help you with the location

Two lost tents, yup (actually this is the same one that got lost a couple years ago). I am 99% certain it ended up in someone's truck, there was an obvious spot in the trees with a couple broken sticks and a bunch of walking tracks.

So, yeah. I'm ready to be called stupid. Clearly my anchoring techniques are stupid! Anyone have advice for some great snow stakes, etc...?

Whoever picked it up did not have the bag though. That was still in a snowdrift at the original spot.

Is not leaving a very expensive, gigantic tent set up and unattended and in public view for days at a time on the table?
