Total Oregon noob here, but I'm going to be out there in late-April or early May on biz. Want to combo some riding into it. Is there still snow on the ground then or is it riding ok? Any good recs on trails?

There'll be plenty of options, but the specific ones will depend on snow/trail conditions. Take a look at the Oregon forum on mtbr from past years to see what was best around then.
Several options are fine right now, by then you'll have plenty. mtbr has plenty of trails descriptions, as does http://cotamtb.com/
Maybe check out the book kissing the trail if you want more details.

I'm probably going to be around there same time too, well splitting time in portland and ashland visiting people. Getting stoked reading about blackrock, sandy ridge looks cool too.
