Three people here at my hill use their park skis. Supposedly one already ripped a binding out of a pair, and they haven;t had them too long.

    176 underfoot???

Maybe I'll eat my words 10 years down the road when 176 is considered a normal powder ski, but that seems like they're just making a super fat ski to turn heads. They might as well just bolt up some bindings to some narrow snowboards.

    Fat Girl and park skis

Hey guys this is Mike from RMU,

With the park skis we have had two warranties this year. The first was due to a ski that was mounted back further then we had designed. The park ski has a symetrical flex pattern and side cut. We designed the ski to be mounted center and left a 15 inch binding pad that was 10mm. With both pairs that have been warrantied this was the case. (we know how it feels to break skis and take care of our members) 08/09 was a prototype year for us skis were all sold on this condition. It has been our misson to get things right and dialed before we release. Based on the success only 2 warranties and our confidence in Never Summer we released our skis to everybody for 2009/2010 and currently are sold out.

The Fat Girl; we relized it would turn heads and well it does. Here is the practicality behind it. The fat girl was designed by Ted Salthouse RMU's big mountain athlete Ted has ben on the Alota for the past two seasons and wanted a reverse camber fat ski. Personally I lauhged when he told me the dimensions over the phone and held a grudge towards the ski. But we build skis for customers wants so we did. Yes 204 was to shock Ted originally wanted 198 176 186 but for marketing we went to 204 176 186. The fat girl has been in guides hands on Chicago ridge, Silverton, and a few other heli guides. Feedback all positive the ski was orginally to stiff but we feel it is pretty dialed now.

I still personally wasnt one over. Early January Ted took me out to one of his favorite spots to prove his design. After my first lap I knew I liked it but with held my impression of it from Ted because everything I knew told me it was to big. A ski this fat I felt would struggle through tight trees so Thats were I took it to spite Teds design. No luck the fat girl blew me away how tight it turns and with a quick response. Yet I still didn't want Ted to know I liked it. We hiked another lap and to an area that was wide open about 1000 vert. Skied it fast with big open turns. And well fell in love with it. I still haven't told Ted my true opinion but for everyone else everything in your mind tells you its to fat until you ski it. Demo is available and input always appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike
