Dud storm dropped an amazing 2-3" of snow. Yippee! Went out with three willing souls and took the long way up to Main Chute via the utterly depressing Albion Weed Basin.

    Alta, breaking all the rules.

    Beaterd, maintaining a positive attitude.

Main Chute, again, and again, and again.

    Marginal at best.

    But still good exercise.
There's nothing better than sliding down snow, flying through the air

I am tryin, I am tryin - it seems I am causing the jetstream to stay north... All part of the Commander's grand plan to keep Alta open for snowboarders

Skied Main Chute today with Alto. The couloir remains chalky and fun. Everything below the exit of the couloir is horrific and terrible. Sadly, some of the best snow was right under the snow guns.

On that note, Alto has an extra lung to haul that reverse camber whatever you call it that fast up a hill.

^ I really like this kid's energy for posting as of late; the test of him being a true rockstar or not will be if he can keep it up once the season hits .... up for first chair, skiing bell to bell, hammering brews, cooking some tasty din, hammering the girl till all hours of the night, falling over due to pure exhaustion, then waking up to do it all over again ..... ????

p.s. bonus points for doing all the above after beating TH up anything

Alta is Way different from my first day of skiing this season on the 8th of October, but still good turns. I agree totally with TH that the groomers were brutal but worth the x-r-cise. Here are some images of a play area I found below baldy (and looks like someone was hanging out there earlier as I have a few similar images.

Ski conditions were 1-2 inches of chalk on top of 2-3 feet of styrofoam = carvy on steeper sections in the shade.

    The approach

Looking back towards the southfaces across the street (sniff)

    Booting to my destination

Once again contemplating the desicrated south faces while eating some grub

A looksie down my line of choice

Fixing my eye on the prize, and little did I know but I was watching TH and Alto shralp the hardpack below

Maybe next time I will send some roller balls down on them (if the snow was compactable)

Check out CommanderBakers rendition of the same line with fresher snow (just a little left of my pic)

Some drink PBR, I ski thin rotten Facet-Sandwiches

On the bright side, the cooler temps should keep the garbage in tact for some more before it snows next week.

Continuing with the crack pipe theme, this was Alto's idea. He easily found two recruits.

Beaterd, not sure why he's smiling after hiking up 800ft of talus.

    And some nice quartzite slabs.

    Alto, the freak show director.

Alto gets first tracks. If that's something to covet.

In a sleepy haze, Beaterd realized he forgot his poles. No worries, he's obviously got "it".

    Beaterd.

    Fun stuff.

    Weeee.

What? Better than playing flag football.

Conditions? 2-3" semi supportable MF crust, then facets to the ground.

Yeah he's uhh, bouldering? the LCC classic .12a, All Chalk and No Action.

Since you psychos are still going out like every day, how's the snowpack on the different aspects? How do you think it will respond to more snow? There's a rumor we might be getting a storm Monday, hopefully one that's good for more than 3" this time.
