Just a thought, but maybe you could use the polybarbonate edges like on the Lightning Boards skis.

    Nice creativity by GapersGoHome

Speaking of creativity (or lack thereof), now we know where Scott gets "inspiration" for their top sheets.

You could trying buying some ptex base, cut out the shape of the ski, mount edges on the base then epoxy/resin it with a good amount of pressure + some heat to the bottom of the skis... Then you can wax'em up too!

Well, wouldn't you know - we never really got any more 1+ foot days all year... I was kinda banking on march to get some viddy-oh, but the precip never materialized. Bummer. Next year, they'll get some video. This year, I survived. With a smile on my face.

I always thought Scott was raiding the vintage OP shirt collection for their topsheets...

GGH, dood...I missed meeting you at Rose on Sunday. You swung by and said "whatup?!" to Corky, then slipped into the ether. Next season...

    Bump for some beta.

Just looking at skis on ebay. How many people have played this game? Where is best to mount the binders I've got lurking?

    Beautiful skis, OP.

    Wotcha dudes,
Just adding my name to this list. Found some beautiful planks on ebay, they arrived yesterday. I stripped the rubber bindings off, dropped them into the shop to be re-mounted, and picked them up this afternoon. I was toying with the idea of doing them myself, but thought "fuck it!"

Just need a couple of feet of snow now! Keep yer fingers and toes crossed, kids.

The old rubber bindings have been taken off...

Wrapped up and ready to be taken to the shop

Back from the shop, sitting next to their friends the Pontoons

How much wider underfoot? THIS much wider...

    Well that's pretty groovy...

Light at the end of the tunnel!

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Hello folks, sorry for bumping an old thread, but I have something to add to it.

I took these out yesterday. They did pretty bloody well on the steep and deep, and about as well as predicted on the flat and the hard pack.

I would recommend this whole episode to anyone who has a spare few quid to drop on second hand water skis on eBay. Definitely worth it.

    Yo,
I tried duct-taping a point-and-shoot to my pack's waist strap, but all I got on the footage was a lot of knee. I'll try and source a proper camera for the future, I'll definitely be up on these a little bit more.

    Here's two pics from today.

Absolutely Awesome? Does the hull shape make it weird? The whole concave thing?

That groove in the middle of each ski? I've never skied a wooden, edgeless ski without that groove down the centre, so I've nothing to compare it to, but I really think it helps to hold the line a lot. I don't think it'd be anything like as stable without it.

^^ Makes sense like a pseudo edge. Pretty ballsy to go out and do it in a place where you still have to get out somehow. Have you had to take them onto a cattrack yet?

Yeah, of course! From the Plan d'Aiguille (midstation of the Aiguille du Midi, with some runs through the forest coming back down into Chamonix town), you always end up on about 1.5 kilometres of a summer 4x4 track to get back to the lift, and some of the descents drop you on a winding walking path (probably 800m worth) before you reach the 4x4 track. The cat track is easy enough to ski as it's pretty flat, but the walking track was absolute torture. Good workout for the thighs though!

I wouldn't call it ballsy, I live literally just across the street from where you take your skis off and walk back to the lift, I walk my dog up in the same woods all the time. I was fully prepared, if needs be (bindings breaking, ski not usable at all, etc) to just walk down. It would take no more than an hour.

Ballsy would be to take them up on the Grand Montets or the Vallee Blanche! Maybe in the future
