NOS Marker bindings... mechanically sound?

So I came across an old pair of Marker M46 Race bindings (red, white & black ones) that are brand new & never mounted. Externally, they are perfect... all metal & din to 14. If I had to guess, I'd say circa 1987ish...

My question is this - is there a reason I shouldn't use them given their age? Again, these are BRAND NEW, but vintage. Yes, I know Markers aren't the favorite around here, but these are pre-biometric toe at least.

I hope you know a shop won't mount them.
The only way to test them is to mount them, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with a 20 year old binding. Too many things sitting under tension for too long, I doubt it would pass a test.

I think they would be OK. Some shops might mount them, but you'd have to sign some sort of waiver. You could maybe get a junk pair of skis and test mount them on those, then have them tested, before drilling your good skis.

Why in heavens name would you want to mount some 20 year old markers on perfectly good skis. Shame on you for even considering such blasphemy. Markers thumbs down, 20 year old markers double thumbs down.

No worries - I'll suck it up & get some newer bindings . Big clearance sale coming up or I might throw a thread & see if someone has anything of interest.
