So Im extremely close to pulling the trigger on some prior overlords, but before I do I want to hear any stories anyone might have had with Prior in terms of durability, customer service, etc. Has anyone here bought from them or had any issues?

I've been on the Original for 2 years now and they've held up very well, although my topsheet chipped rather easily. The topsheets and sidewalls on this years skis are definitely more bomber though. I fondled and flexed the Overlord a few weeks ago and it looked very well constructed. Prior stand behind their products, but if you have a problem with the ski (my buddy's first gen Original delamed) expect them to repair it rather than give you a new ski. I almost pulled the trigger on the Overlord myself, but the $1000 price tag pushed me towards Movement....

Martha's just polishing the brass on the Titanic....
I put in a few days on Dough Boys last year. Clipped a couple of hidden and semi-hidden rocks and thought for sure I'd killed 'em. When I checked them out there was a little dent in the ptex - and a couple of tiny, tiny chips out of the sidewall. Not enough to even warrant a second thought.
Prior was easy to deal with...
I rode prior snowboards for 5 years before I got back into skiing. Their skis are built pretty much the same way as the snowboards are are bomber. They are a pretty simple lay up so there's not a lot that can go on. Chris and the boys are really proud of their product and if you go up to the factory down in Function they are always happy to show people around. In the 5 years I road they're boards on delamed and one had a little chunk of sidewall pop out. Both were a result of me abusing the board and so they technically weren't covered under warranty but Chris took them into the shop and did a really good job fixing both.
i think they used to have some durability issues with a hot ski press. my pair of originals which i got hmm 2 seasons ago delammed a couple times around where the tip curves up. got em fixed each time at the factory until they finally just took em apart and squirted new glue into em and repressed em. and yeah i second what the other dude said about them repairing ur skis rather than simply giving you a new pair. im stoked on the overlords.. .if it wasnt for the rather steep price id be all over a pair this season. and yeah the bases dont gouge easily... i never put anything more than a scratch in mine and i hit a lot of rocks that i thought would be core shots for sure. that being said... i loved my originals... will still ride em this year early season. great all round whistler ski.
I have heard both good and bad things about Priors. 3 of my buddies wen´t for the doghboys last year and everyone had delam probs. One of the guys even had the P in prior ripped out from the base when he pulled off his skins.
And customer service....it seems to depend on who you get to talk to and if their in a good mood. The guy who pulled out the P got help riight away. Got his money back. To be noted is that he bought them through the glacier shop. Props to those guys!
The other guy with the delam prob had his skis sent back and forth. The fixed the...then they delamed again...then they fixed them ...then they delamed again..then the riveted the tip and tails on his skis. But the skis were a bit fucked after all the "work" on them. I guess it was a matter of trail and error on those skis.
Super sweet skis though! Carves like i smaller ski and floats a ton in pow..even at slow speeds!
I think that if they don´t press the skis so hard...they wont delam (maybe vacum pressing?) And if they learned from their mistakes last season their skis WILL rock big time. Would pull the trigger on a pair of overlords if I wasn´t so damn stoked on the lotus 120´s!
I hope I helped out a bit there!!
Håll i hatten as we say here in Sweden![]()
PNyberg-When you get to Kicking Horse/Fernie we may have to trade 120s for 138s for a few runs.
I was interested in Overlords too, easier to get and better to support the Canadians, but the Lotus 120s just seem like similar shape, all around better, and even cheaper.
Nothing but great product and great service on the snowboard side from here.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

they had their issues but i believe from what i heard from talking to them at their factory that the delam issue has been resolved and was the result of a too hot ski press, givng them uneven distribution of glue when pressing the skis. i wouldnt write em off... not a big fan of the dough boy shape, but the overlords look awesome.
i got one season on DB's in whistler...one ski delamed quite a bit (60cm), they fixed it in the factory straight away...the bases on my model (Rocky Mountain edition from Funken, 2005?) are soft as hell, scored some huge coreshots, comparing to my Bros just pure butter. Otherwise they are pretty specific skis and kinda short but I like them. Customer service OK, never had to deal with them on phone though...
had great customer service from em generally. email and phone... talk to Dean. i think hes the dude on the ski side of thing. he's Chris Prior's partner and i dealt with him everytime i had an issue. super nice dude, always had me sorted.
