Following the end of our extended rainy season we had a few weeks of cool weather, then summer suddenly arrived. I took advantage of a short cool period with an 80F high in Palm Springs to hit up the Palm Canyon epic ride last week. Temps were hitting 100+ just before, and again after my ride.
This was my first moto self shuttle since my old dual sport was stolen in WA last summer. The newer CRF 300L was solid on the drive up the hill
Most of the flowers were gone but the cactus bloom was going off up high
Palm Canyon starts around 4,500ft on Hwy 74 and drops all the way to Palm springs at about 500ft. With around 2k climbing thrown in.

Dropping into the canyon
It's been 10 years since I have seen water flowing at this spot when it wasn't immediately after a big storm. We are four weeks out at this point, so it's pretty amazing to see water here
Took one for the team....impaled deep into my finger. 1/2" long, and thick. It was a bleeder once yanked out.
Checked out an alternate view of the canyon off trail looking for more flowers. This place is rad.
Opted for a swim at the last stream crossing. Found this cool bathtub.
It was more than head deep at the upper end.
Super relaxing. I hung out and soaked for a while
Time to get going. Exited via Wildhorse and Goat trails
Perfect day out there. Never got hot and mostly had a nice cool breeze. Didn]t see a single person until the ridge summit in the last pic.

Had to take a break from ski boots to do some heavily decomposed granite grinding in the Eastern Sierra. Fuckn hot though!
