    Shelf Road Camping

This might be a padded room, but its kind of urgent, soo... I'm heading up to shelf road this weekend for climbing, where should I camp? I can't seem to find a specific place to do it from google. Thanks!

You can camp onsite. Lower campgrounds called Sand Gulch. Upper campgrounds above the Darkside called the Bank. Awesome camping. There is a chance they could be full therefore getting down as early as possible is key. If the place is full wander around and ask if you can throw up a tent in someone else's site. Usually works.

We'll be up mid-day on Friday. Sounds like its first come first serve, so I'm guessing no reservations. Thanks for the info.

Yup, no reservations. BLM campground. Access Fund is very active there so the place is nice. Bring lots of firewood.

Do bring wood. The Bank camping is up above the Dark Side so can be real windy. On the other hand Sand Gulch can be colder with the cooler air sinking. Take your pick.

    enjoy.

There's also a lot of just random BLM land around there that you can camp on that isn't necessarily "right there" but has more uhhhhh ambience. This is doubly true if you have 4wd.
