Post In Nils Memory: 10th Annual Climb Against Cancer

Well I was supposed to race in a solo 12 hour Mt. Bike race this Saturday but since my hand is messed up, I have decided not to participate.

I now consider this a gift.

This Saturday is the Jen's Friends 10th Annual Climb Against Cancer at Cranmore Mountain in North Conway NH. I have wanted to do it for the last couple of years but have not had a chance.

I plan to trail run this hiking event now in Nils memory.

Here is a link to the event: Jen's Friends Climb Against Cancer

I will let you all look at the details yourself, but basically this is a typical charity fundraiser where people will sponsor me to take place in the event. So this e-mail is an open call to the Maggots to sponsor me, in Nils memory, to go out for a run for a very worthwhile cause.

Myself, I am going to pledge my $50 bike race registration, $4 EFTA daily race fee and approximately the $100 I would have spent in food, gear, water, gas and other appurtenances to compete in the bike race. If any other Maggots would like to sponsor me, I would be honored.

This race is this Saturday so time is short for getting pledges. The website says that checks made out to Jen's Friends Cancer Foundation. I don't do the Paypal thing, so I have no idea how or what people are comfortable with for sending checks/payment. All I can say is that I am completely trustworthy and have had financial dealings with a bunch of Maggots and never had any issues.

Maggots, if you would like to sponsor me, please contact me via PM or e-mail if you have it. I will also continually check this thread to see who is expressing interest and get in contact with you via PM if that is the best way to get it done. Also, if anyone has a better idea about how to smooth this out, let me hear it.

Thanks for your support and Fuck Cancer!

    Did ya notice this:

The hike up and down the slopes of Cranmore Mountain is approximately three miles. Participants may choose to hike the entire or partial route. Others may choose a leisurely 20-minute walk to the duck pond, stopping to feed the ducks (with seed provided by the event planners). For 2007, we are adding another opportunity for raising money - a Mountain Bike Trail. This will be an advanced level trail, beginning at the Base Lodge.
