Will up-to-date tele boots make me a better telemarketer?

    Disclaimer: I'm a gear slut.
link is pissing me off, try this: http://www.backcountry.com/store/BCC0090
edit: WTF TGR keeps inserting a ?asdf in the middle of my URL, and it won't work. Angry.

Just pondering whether I should replace my old, borrowed, used original black T1's for something new and stiffer this season. Running Linkens on a pair of 185cm, barely used Rossi B4's (94mm waist). Maybe it'll get me out on teles this season some more? I'd like to at least get competent on the stupid things so I can be cool like LB, Prof, MT, nater, etc...

Thinking either new T1's or Crispi XR's. Will it make that much of a difference?

Replaced my old original T2's last year for some of the newer T2X's, the red ones. Best ski purchase in recent memory. 3 biggest advantages in my case: much lighter weight [lighter, with more support, go figure]; soooooo much more comfy (yes, thermofit liners are really different than 10 year old liners); better control as I stepped down a shell size. Props to Wilson Backcountry Sports for a great deal and fitting. Do it!

The thing that'll make you a good telemarketer is spending day after day working on precise, razor like carves on the 250v' pistes of Ohio. Once you can really push the geeez on those you'll be ready to takle something as gnar as chips or the giant ropetow at alta.

In other news, I heard the prof won't be skiing this winter and as such he'll be easy to keep up with unless the bastard cheats like the last time such a thing happened and he uses his training heels.

New gear is good but what'll really help is actually telemarking instead of alpining all the time. You already have the good telemarkers to ski with and if nothing years of waiting for me should have shown you that there's always a sally alley around.

Too bad about your bootsize. Actually my TRs might've been a little big and are 27 (so 27-27.5 shell) you're welcome to try them

LB, this is true, I know. I just hate sucking at skiing. However Ohio might be the perfect chance to unsuck at tele. Maybe I'll get some new tele skis while I'm at it...94mm is so damn skinny.

Oh and thanks for the TR offer, but I know a 27ish shell will not work. I'm a 12 street shoe.

    Short answer: maybe

They will give you more power but if the technique isn't there, it's going to hurt your game.

We've never skied together but if you tele like you ride, then yes, get the new boots. I have some XRs and they helped me quite a bit. XRs are burlier than T1s a little. TRace would be closer to XRs but then you have to see what fits your foot.

I can make solid tele turns on groomies but at speed off piste I tend to revert like this (pics courtesy CS 2005):

I think the XR's would be ideal, since I already have Diablo AT boots that I pretty much like. I just wonder if the extra stiffness over my old T1's would give me a bit more confidence to feel some support under my feet and not feel like I'm going to die dropping my knee...

They are about the same fit. The XRs will have a little tighter toe box...use thick toe caps when you form the liners. What I like about the XRs is the forward lean adjustments.

Oh, pow surfing teles is the bee's knees.

Dude, I know that you can tailgun p-turns with anybody, do that through the steeps and learn to t-turn on blackjack. Really it should be pretty easy if you just spend the time doing it. On some new (or last year's) TRs

Actually getting out and making telemark turns is overrated. Buy new boots and you will slay.

new boots fitted for you will likely make a big difference.

New boots will not help you off piste. The fear of stuffing a tip has nothing to do with control through your boots. What you need is BIGGER SKIS! Havent you been paying attention all these years?

    indeed stuffing a tip + dps 120s = unpossible.
