    Duke sizing

I am going to buy a set of dukes for my titen 9's, noticed they are available in sizes like all AT binders, but seems to be a big overlap between sizes. Boot sole 305mm. Any body bought dukes with boot sole 305? what size did you buy?

It would seem to me that you you would want the shortest one that will fit your boot.

    Any thoughts

AT boots will be about 1 cm shorter than alpine ones. Keep this in mind if the 305 is your alpine boot sole.

When I looked at the size options it seemed to me that only people with giant feet will want the large ones. I wear size 10 and I ordered a small. If you hold out a few weeks they'll be here and I can confirm (along with all the others who got some in the group buy).

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

search around--this was discussed in one of the many many duke threads. if i remember, i think 317 fits in the small one.

    if youre 305 go small

    if youre 317 go small

smalls fit 265 to 320 (advertised)
supposedly they even fit up to 325 per a post from someone who talked to a marker rep

    this is confirmed by ptex1.

Basically, if you can fit in the small size, get the small size.

My boots are 325mm, and I switched from long to small on the pre-buy once ptex1 confirmed that they'd work.

That's only true if your 317 is the largest boot sole you'll use. I'm in a 324 alpine boot, but it's a plug race fit boot. I actually have 12 1/2 feet. I went large knowing that any other boot I buy will be bigger than 324.

Fair enough. I have 10.5E feet, so an alpine boot with a finger to 1.5 finger fit works out to 325mm. If I go AT, I'll be going smaller, not larger.

9-10.5 street shoe depending on brand.

    26.5 ski boot / 305mm boot sole.

    I went with the Small.

ya im 317 in my alpines but i figure i will probably be gettin some at boots sometime soon when i can afford so maybe i would want the large? do at boots usually about 1cm bigger i read in another thread is that accurate?
how big of an advantage would going small over large be in a 317? is it just less likely for play to develop in the small?

I just spoke with the marker rep to order mine. I have a 315mm sole and was thinking small, but he recommended I go Large, since on the small, "I would be getting close to the end of the heel." He said weight difference was nearly nothing. I have no problem going large, this way my friends can try my praxis and be so jealous.

I don't think weight is the general reason people choose between large and small. The footprint on the longer AT binding is larger and probably affects the natural flex of your ski more. I've always heard go with the smallest AT binding that will work.

Yep, I've heard the same, and went smaller with my naxos. The rep talked me into it, and I doubt I would know the difference.

I had this topic going a few weeks ago.

For the Duke this isn't true since the attachment points are the toe and the locking mechanism under the boot and it slides freely on the piece under the heel. So quite a short footprint on either size

For the Duke this isn't true since the attachment points are the toe and the locking mechanism under the boot and it slides freely on the piece under the heel. So quite a short footprint/same size on either size Duke.

I did however speculate that the larger Duke may have more lateral stiffness/less twisting because with a large boot in a Small Duke, the heel plate will be placed more in front of the heel whereas on the Large it would be more behind the heel if you know what I mean.

Anyway, consensus from the Mags is GO SMALL!

Interesting... Seems like your logic is reasonable. Maybe the Duke is different in that smaller isn't always better.

im thinkin i may go large just in case my nxt pair of at's is larger than 325, and that lateral stiffness comment helps me justify it... gonna wait and see a little longer though.

    Duh, what you mean?

Just saying that this topic has been brought up before a few times and the vast majority have said given the choice, go small.

As far as the stiffness issue, I was only speculating, and I've never compared a Small and Large Duke side by side. I only assume that on the Large the heel plate would be mounted further back on the ski.

robnow, dookey was making a funny. "Go small" instead of "go big" or "go hudge." Get it?
