Thread: Why does Whistler Blackcomb suck?

    Why does Whistler Blackcomb suck?

Is it because they get more rain then snow? Is it because the first 4,000 vertical of their "huge" vertical is merely blue groomers? Is it because most the time it is fogged in and overcast? Is it because when there is that very rare occurence when there actually is sunshine and snow you have to wait freakin 90 minutes in line for a decent chair? Is it because everything costs twice as much as it should? Is it because it has more tourists then Disneyland no matter where you go in the area? Is it because it is the most over-hyped over-rated piece of shit mountain in the world? Or is it all the Canadians who pretend like they are skiing on a good mountain just because they can't get VISAs to live at resorts which have twice as much snow, 10 times as much sun, %99 less rain, twice as much EXPERT vertical, lifts that don't require a 90 minute wait, and way more killer terrain at places like Jackson Hole, Alta, Snowbird, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood, Big Sky, amongst others? So which is it? Why exactly does Whistler/Blackcomb suck as much they do?

Sweet. Sounds like we won't have to worry about alpinekook clogging up our liftlines this winter. That should knock it down to only 89 minutes of standing in line getting rained for every lap of shitty white out skiing on shitty snow on shitty terrain while avoiding the wall to wall mass of gapers

It takes one full minute to load an individual skier on a lift? I guess that's just another reason why Whistler sucks big monkey balls so much.

only takes a minute for gapers like you that are so high they can't see straight. Seriously thoguh man, why the troll? why the hate for Whistler? Yes it is crowded most weekends, yes it is lower elevation than most, yes it gets cloudy days. But it's not much more expensive than any other resort, has excellent terrain, reliable snowfall, and great side country access. You get butt raped during pride week or something?

I would rather stick needles in my eyes (or even ski whistler) than pay retarded amounts of money to ski in the redneck wonderland. And that is why i'm going to Revelstoke.

Whistler is a crap shoot. We have had POW one day then Ice the next. It is grossly over rated, over priced, and full of Snobs.

In all fairness Whistler also has lots of good people who are Real and Down to Earth but they are few and far between.

Remember Ice belongs in a Bitch Drink not on the Hill.

Only people who have lucked out and have experience Fresh Pow will tell you that it's the best but most will never experience that on a 5 day or 7 day trip because the weather is not suitable for a "World Class Resort". This resort is better suited for day tripping when conditions are right NEVER PLAN A TRIP MONTHS AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2010 will perhaps prove once and for all to the World that Whistler has some of the WORST SNOW CONDITIONS in the West!!!!!!!!!

Sad to say but I'm never going back but if I lived in the area I would day trip ONLY WHEN CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT.

^^^ wow a alias created specifically for bashing W/B i have to admire ur dedication

It may be an alias just for this thread but it is not mine so that is now two people who seem to not have been brainwashed by the marketing machine of Whistler. And he is right, at best Whistler is just a crapshot which a world class resort should not be. Every resort gets shitty conditions every once in a while but while Snowbird may have a couple days a month that are bad, Whistler may have a couple days a month that are good. That is just fucked up. Even in epic conditions with no lines I would still take many other resorts over Whistler, but epic conditions at Whistler are a very very rare thing (unlike consistent epictry at UT, WY, MT and CA) and epic with little or no lines as far as I know just plain does not exist there.

I'll just sit back and quote this for posterity. Would anyone from those states like to comment on last years conditions?

Btw, I didn't even think of the Olympics. Boy that sure is going to be some funny shit watching the mens downhill being clocked at 20 and 30mph as they cruise through the pouring rain and all the puddles. It will be like watching curling! Halfway down they will probably start skating and it will turn into a cross country race lol. I can just see the headlines now, "Bode Miller wins the downhill race with a time of 9 min and 38 sec!" Haha!

Alpinekook, even though i know u are the biggest fucking troll ever( just confirmed by searching some of your other posts) im am still sooooo temped to argue with you because the shit that you are saying is so fucking stupid.

But u know maybe whistler is shit and i only that i just think i skied so many powder days last year because im so brainwashed by there marketing that i think im skiing pow when really im on icy moguls

    alpinekook Guest
Whats wrong with icy moguls? So how many powder days did you ski at Whistler last year? Not "oh it's snowing up by Hortsman t-bar where we can then take off all our Gore-Tex" but actual powder on the majority of the mountain when you could actually see where you were going and not have to make camp at the lifts?

Honestly people and prices don't make that much difference to me as I can ignore both, but I do prefer to ski on snow instead of rain, in sun instead of fog (or I at least would like to be able see my hands), and prefer my legs to give out from the skiing and not from the standing in lines, and I would also like to be able to do this at least more then once or twice a season. With that in my mind I don't see how you can throw Whistler in the mix with Snowbird, Jackson Hole, Alta, or Big Sky.

I had my original post, 3 posts made within a 10 min time frame, and 2 others. Trust me I've been doing plenty of other stuff on the web.......... How the fuck can it rain at a ski resort in Feb?!?! For fucks sake it even snows in freakin Tennesse and Georgia in Feb!
