Ooops, just FYI there's no silent "h" on ornery.
(My first take... pics #1 & #2 look same (or are letters raised less on #2?), #3 AND #4 are each different??? I like the first one (edit: unless letters are less raised on #2, in which case it should be easier to produce to I vote for it), the "on a" should match the rest IMHO... and I'd expect that unless you are doing a cast metal, the raised border on the others look vulnerable to cracking off if done in plaster etc?)

Check out the website I was surprised with tonight. I don't know if I'll change anything but I got a good laugh.

Just preserving this part in case the corporate headquarters requires it be changed someday;
About The Artist
Francis Gray is a self-proclaimed ski fanatic who is superbly talented, enjoys long bicycle rides across America, snifters of Grand Marnier, and spending entire days in bed engaged in sexual gymnastics that would leave much younger men on life support.
But he's taken, so you can just enjoy the view from a distance!))
Yours Truly,

You're right. Root gets the ornery pricing ;-))
and thanks mock
They're are all the same work... the pic with "on a" lightly scratched in wasn't intended to stay that way. It's the placement markings for the raised lettering.
My question about "which one do you like" is to get a feel for :
round with a border, classic design with a border, or no border at all (like the top pic)
I've struggled with the decision and am leaning towards no border right now. After I get the first mold, I'll do the other two. I think the round with the border conjures up a ski hill and looks more vintage.. but the simplicity of the one without border has me leaning in that direction..
I just caught your preservation. I don't know what headquarters is gonna say about that.
Can we get an oracle ruling?
What kind of chocolate are they made of and can you recommend a brand of vanilla ice cream to put on top?
I like the first one.... but also, are they made in a nut free factory?![]()

EE- Is your wife really gonna let you leave that unfinished and go back to skiing? I can't see you getting much done on that on weekends once you are allowed to go skiing again.
I AM back on skis, officially as of the 5th, been out a few times already. I don't ski weekends, I work on the house then![]()
Gorgeous! Was excited to see how that would turn out as I've done a ton of hardwood flooring, and really appreciate stuff like that.

Holy fkn shit eldereldo.
THAT'S magnificent.
Spectacular, Elderado. Seriously.

Eldereldo,
Looks great !!! One question, it looks like lots of flat sawn sticks in the mix, why not all quarter sawn ? Seems like it would make the border pop a little more.

^^ As I said, it looks great. My question wasn't aimed as some jab at his work. I deal in that business for a living so I'm always interested in the aesthetic choices one makes.

I know, I was just gettting a playful rise out of you. I should have waited till elderado explained but the humorous(matter of opinion) dick in me
sometimes precedes restraint.
you're probably thinking this lends credence to BigD's summation earlier... I woulda jumped on anyone at the time...just happened to be you :-)))
... love what you did on the patio btw...so much stuff slips through this thread
I actually prefer a mix, same reason I don't sort out shades and try to keep similiar colors together, I like the contrasts. And at the moment none of this has been sanded, so the maple isn't as white as it will end up, nor is the cherry as dark as it will be once it is finished. Should have more contrast, like this.
Not to mention, that this was done with 'end of roll' left overs I bought for about 50% off just because there wasn't that much available. So I barely had enough cherry to finish up, think I had maybe 5 sq ft left over![]()

Thanks Early wood,
Mission accomplished. I just didn't want El to think I was blasting his work. I think my humor meter was turned off, sorry. I've seen people do this type of thing to often. Pick apart/criticize some ones work that's obviously really nice. It can be hard to convey a question (in writing) about aesthetic choices without seeming critical sometimes.

^^^FWIW, i didn't consider it as critical OSECS, but a valid question that got a straight answer from the artist himself
^^^ Yeah, I appreciated that he even talked about buying leftover materials as a cost saving measure.

not only cost saving, but better for the environment than increasing the demand for new
