Skunks Terrorizing Dogs WWMD?

So the new business thar recently moved in the property adjacent to mine decided to make it the new home for their dogs as well. The dogs are well behaved over all but at night after the owners leave, the local skunks show up and parade along the chain link fence out of reach of the dogs, but close enough to drive them crazy and bark are all night. Unfortuntely the dogs owners could care less, as they don't sleep there and basically told me to F off about my complaint. I have yet to get a decent night's sleep since the dogs have moved in and the barking is beginning to drive me crazy.

Since the owners are unresponsive about the situation, any ideas of how to diffuse the situation? The skunks are completely fucking with the dogs. After an hour of constant barking last night I went to check on the situation and sure enough there's skunk with it's tail up just chilling on the fence line, while one of the dogs sits a few feet back and barks to end. After I showed up the skunk left, but of course as soon I was gone the skunk came back and posted up for the next few hours.

Any mags had issues with critters messing with their dogs from behind a fence? This is in town, so a gun powder fueled skunk rampage is out of the question. In my extremely tired state right now all I could think of is buying a cheap bb-gun to let the skunks know that fun time is over. It's just too bad the owners won't just take the dogs home at night.

Knock the skunks off the fence into the dogs. A) it will teach the skunks a lesson, and B) it will teach the dog owners a lesson when they have to deal with the stink.

The real solution is call animal control and file a bark complaint. It may take a couple complaints, or better yet get some neighbors to complain as well. Since you have tried to reason with the owners this is a valid next step.

The skunks aren't actually on the top of the fence but on the ground or that would be an excellent plan. Yeah, I've been thinking animal control as well, but was hoping this would not get to a point where I'd have to get an outside authority involved, as I'd like to keep the neighborly drama to a minimum. But that's probably the best choice.

You can call animal control (for the Skunks) as well.

Call animal control and file the "bark complaint". Had to do that down here, because a douchebag of a family decided to get a puppy, but neglected it. AC fined the family pretty good.

Ha, was thinking the same thing this morning. I do pay way too much to put up with this shit. Guess I'll be calling the man.

My "neighborhood" has become somewhat of a "wild" animal park in the last year due to people leaving out food to feed local feral cats in the trailer park nearby. They seem to try to ignore that it just creates a buffet for all the local racoons and skunks.

Your on target with the bb gun on the skunk bonus points if it lets loose in the dog.

Animal control is plan B. Neighbors have already told you to eff off so you don't have much to lose in the way of relationship.

Skunks are smart critters and know when they are not welcome. Pellet gun works well. However, I like the AC idea better. Because your nice neighbors won't.
