Quick Question - finding an address on-line?

Are there any free ways to do this anymore? I used to use either Yahoo! or whitepages.com but now they send you to some background check sites where you have to pay to get any info - - including address.

I only want to send somebody a thank you card, but don't want to do the "hey dude, what's your address so I can send you a thank you card.." because that sorta kills the whole point of it.
