Looking forward to hearing more from Briggs too.
Amazing film. Caught it at the Vancouver film fest in September...
Martha's just polishing the brass on the Titanic....
Saw a pre-screening of it last week, and was very impressed. It's well-told, well-shot, and really crafts a story. The film itself is pretty heavy, and toll the mountains have taken might turn away the interest of some of the mainstream viewers. As a friend said, "as a backcountry skier, I'm not about to tell my parents, hey, this is what I do". Some of that will definitely serve as a caution to gapers thinking "oh hey, I can do that," but all-in-all, it's very well done. It really goes a long way to capturing the freedom, self-reliance and adventure in the backcountry.
I posted some other thoughts here: http://wherewillyouski.blogspot.com/...ig-screen.html

NH Mags, there might be a screening coming soon to Portsmouth, so I'll update once I hear additional word. Music Hall sounded really interested in running it.
If I don't see this soon, I think I might explode.
Literally.

Powstash will you sit next to me and hold my hand when I get scared??
p.s. the lx.com vid on their website is recommended viewing for sure
"... she'll never need a doctor; 'cause I check her out all day"
Sorry if this is a silly question, but are all showings at the same time of day? Do you need to check in with the theater itself for exact time?
Nice!!! stoked to see it.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.

I'd bet that those dates aren't just for the day of, but a weekend or so of showings. All those dates are fridays, and since they are actual movie theatres, I'd guess they would show for the whole weekend/week if not a couple weeks. I could be wrong, but I know the Speakeasy in Breck usually shows their movies for a week, not just one night.

a few years back they had an almost identical trailer at the mainstream theaters in MA only halfway through a bunch of cell phones started ringing and it turned off to be a shut your cell of psa. i remember being so insanely disappointed when i realized it was fake. sure the fake skiers couldnt act, but i let myself buy into it cause i was waiting for a movie like this for years, especially after seeing dogtown and z boys and riding giants. i guess now i finally get to watch it.
One week to opening bump.
Release schedule here. It'll be in my office park in January. Woo hoo!
not counting days 2016-17
aaaaarg. I'm driving back from CO when it plays in MN, and it doesn't play at any of the places I'll be out west while I'm there. Penis. Might have to drive down to Milwaukee in Feb... I guess at least I'm missing it so I can actually be skiing, that's about the best possible reason to miss it, huh?
I think the potato gun proved the stability.
We were able to get an uncompressed, high resolution version up on nossaTV. You can watch it streaming on our site, or full screen if you download and install our media player.
Working on getting the four additional clips that are on the Steep Film site. In the meantime, here's a long boring interview, but at least it's spiced up with some more great footy from the film.
One week bump!

For me, watching Steep's vintage ski extreme footage was a big thrill, but I also found the athlete profiles very interesting. Kind of like looking in the mirror, in an (admittedly) small way.
In addition to seeing a screening, I also got a chance to talk to Andrew McLean about the film.
For a little extra stoke, check out the interview, featuring bonus expedition tips and a little music from a bona-fide Japanese rock star.

Any SLT Mags down to see the show tomorrow night? I'm gonna be up there all weekend, maybe I can pull Spats in on it too if he's around.

We're planning on going in Whitefish tomorrow night if anyone is interested in joining. Don't know what times are yet but we can't go til late.
Just saw it tonight. Good flick.
It was nice to see Briggs talking again about his skiing, after getting to know him over the past couple years.
Seemed odd they focused on Plake and basically ignored Schmidt. In my opinion, I grew up watching Schmidt in early Warren Miller flicks. He was killing it, and seemed more influential with Plake being more of a media guy.
The focus on Coombs was very well done and very tasteful. The cablecam footage was pretty inspiring as well.
Perhaps my favorite part of the movie was the coverage of Anselme Baud and the other French skiers. Anselme comment "For a moment, I was a little superman" (something like that) was classic.
Overall a very well rounded coverage.
