From the few emails I exchanged with them, they said it would be a 'theaterical' release. Too what extent, I don't know.

Let us know. The trailers look like it should be a great film. I am curious how it will change the way films are done in the future. Hopefully it will be in Utah soon.

    good to hang with spc,
didnt see anyone else at the bar or the movie.
so I liked this movie, but it wasnt as good as I thought it would be.
    Very 'merica (fuck yeah) focused.
the Briggs stuff was stunning, prolly the best part of the movie.
I wish they would have spent more time on the crazy Franchies around Cham.
also the wetern canada stuff was good but I would have liked more on Pehota and Lot of time on Blizzard of Ahhs, I dont remember Plake wearing eyeliner when i met him before.....
Good segments on Coombs and his contributions, lot of MSP archival footage but no TGR, although he mentioned TGR after as one of the compnies doing good ski films now but different from what he did.
TGR guys, Did you guys conciously not work with him?
Hung around after and did Q & A with the writer/producer.
they really want to do theatrical release and DVD production, but they have not been picked up yet

    Thanks for the review Woodsy.

What was the coverage about Briggs? Just the Grand, or his descents first descents of South, Middle, Grand, Owen, and Moran?

They used two of Gramps' photos in the flick. We rented a plane last spring to shoot aerial footage and photos, and sold a couple photos to them.

It was just the Grand. But they had a lot of face time with him now, interviews.... Briggs had the most infectious personality in the entire movie i think. Grandfatherly and with an unmistakable twinkle of life.

no homo- but def made me want to give him a hug. i hugged woodsy (surregate briggs) instead.

the "dude with a pony tail" thoughts and segment were awe inspiring
I hadno idea she dropped that line right after Hugo cartwheeled out of it.
definately go see, I think I just expected Riding Giants,m and its not.
definately hope it gets wide release though, if anyone knows anyone, put a bug in their ear.

He is a very genuine and generous person. We spent significant time with him over multiple days when we interviewed him last year. I feel lucky to have gotten to know him a bit.

Then at the Alpinist film festival, I was ready to go to bed after the show was over, and he was at the bar, continuing the party, laughing, joking, and carrying on.

He's an original ski bum, who dedicated his life to the activity. He still skis and teaches at Snowking, and lives across the street from the hill. Classy guy.

I can't wait to wrap my eyes around this one.

Here's a short article on it:

...which links to this awesome interview that has clips from the movie:

Not yet. I'm guessing in a couple of weeks. My girlfriend works at an independent theater which gets a lot of Sony Picture Classics, so she's keeping an eye out as well.
