    PAYPAL SCAM

My mom just got an e-mail confirming payment for something though paypal.

The only thing is that she doesnt have a paypal account. So i clicked on the dispute transaction button, and this came up:

It looks as though people are now trying to use that as a scam to get your info.

Just giving everybody a heads up!

simple solution. If you ever get an email that looks like a scam, don't use the buttons in the email to confirm it for god's sake, go straight to the website and login to see the "transaction".

Also, make sure the Paypal login screen uses a fully qualified domain name and not some obscure IP address.

that wouldn't even be an issue if you do what I suggest, manually type in www.paypal.com. Don't ever trust the login screen they provide, they often screw with you by having a small typo, so you go to www.paypall.com or something like that.

It's simple, don't ever click through a link to login.

I got that one this morning. I thought it was pretty effective - enough so that I went and checked PayPal, just to make sure. Definitely a step up from the usual phishing schemes.

Not a bad price for an HD Camcorder though.
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.
