    char: any time.
gincognito: ditto. Post away. I'm not a rockstar.

Note the angle of the trees in the background: I rotated the pic so they were vertical. The steepness now agrees with my gut check: about 45 at the top, more at the rollover.

I'm taking a day off today to ease the sun burn! Damn it was hot at Alpine yesterday - spent most of the day in the park to escape the knee deep poling downhill glop that was smeared across most of the mountain.

I'll be up at Squaw with Shera and the crew tomorrow and will definitely be at the Kirkwood and the Beav on Friday (as long as I don't wreck myself on the Palisades in the meantime).

Gin is fixing up after his excursion in Upper Cham - he's a tough little fella.

Is there anyone more aware of the presence of a camera than Mr Superstar Punani? A gathering of maggots above Heart Chute, Kirkwood.

I wasn't there at the time but he took a very ugly bounce down onto some rocks, punching a few holes in his arms and ripping the shit out of his back. Mrs Roo fixed him up a bit when he got back but I think he had a very uncomfortable night! He's back in the saddle today up at the Weed.

quick gin story from Sunday at KW....

Me, bullet, skier666, & gincognito are standing on top of Upper Cham. A damn steep, rocky chute where you have to slide in to skier's right, cowboy over a horizontal rock band not 5 feet below the cornice, then bust out a quick airplane turn to the left upon landing before ramming into the skier's right rock wall which hems the chute. Quick, steep, technical, and dynamic. Once you get through this series of opening moves you're pretty much home free as long as you keep your speed under control.

so anyways, we're all scoping it out, having second thoughts about dropping in because it was pretty damn icy...when skier666 decides to slide into it. He slides in, gets over the first band of rocks, but catches a tip on the skiers right rock wall as he goes to bust that left turn and he slides out exposing a few more rocks within the chute making it even more dicey.

upon seeing skier666 slide out (which rarely ever happens....dudes always on his feet), me, bullet, and gin decide to take an alternate route around.

So bullet and I skate away to an adjacent chute thinking that gin is right behind us when I turn to look over my shoulder and I only see bullet. Hey where the heck did Gin go?

Then I look back up the ridge just in time to see his helmet dip below the edge of Upper Cham. He decided to drop it once everyone left.....we then went through our alternate chute and came around the bottom of Upper Cham just in time to finish see him thoroughly ripping it up.

    It was sweet.

sick, ashamed, (and thoroughly impressed with Gin's humble ripping)

    Arrow

Here's a shot of Upper Cham from earlier this season. The picture doesn't show how sketch the top 2 turns are since I didn't want to look over the edge.

Probably one of the sketchiest lines in Kirkwood since there's no room for a fuck up.

Not good image but recent. Big dump 2-26-04 buried even more rocks. Early season this whole area is way more rocky so lots of danger where rocks might lie beneath.

He went back for more on Upper Chamoix.

Apparently, this time it chewed him up and spit him all the way into lower chamoix.

He was feeling pretty good today and made some turns, not quite sure how that went, but I think he is OK.

I want a 6" travel 20lb MTB. I found the 20lb MTB, but only good for riders under 87 pounds.

Warm, sunny and extremely WINDY day at the wood put our plans of a day in West Shore on hold.

Spent about an hour out on carson pass so Kush and friends could hit a b/c booter.

Kush throwing a 360 on the spatulas (prolly the only spin my spatulas will ever do. )
