Big props to Alto, seconds to DeVore, and the KW crew kicked ass - as did Jane!
Second this! Had a great time hanging with a few mags.
I changed my ticket so I could watch the finals yesterday and was so bummed that the weather didn't the last 2 competitiors. My first comps to watch and it was just awesome...the girls were awe inspiring and the vibe was amazing. Congrats to the mags that posted top spots.
Thanks for posting the results Lynx.

great vids on here
WOW!
ALTO - big BIG props man! Definitely one of the biggest accomplishments of any maggot here securing a tie for first place. I remember last summer you were posting about heading over to Yurp for the World Tour events so that we can finally beat those Frenchies out of the top overall spot and it looksl like your starting to make good on that claim!!! Kick ASS man!!!!![]()
And god damn am i stoked for Kirkwood homie Craig Garbiel...after crashing at the Telluride comp, he nails down 3rd place at Squaw and now 4th place here at the 'Bird. SICKNESS!! And speaking of sickness, i'm so psyched that Josh Daiek from Kirkwood got the sickbird in such a stacked field!!!!
Waste your time, read my crap, at:

wow, big congrats ALTO! that is....seriously great.
Makes 2 mags that've won at the bird!

What Z said. Daiek is sick. Fuckin' kid is out for blood.
Also - Good fuckin work, Alto.
Chocolate? This is doodoo, BABY!
I advanced past day 1. SWEET! On to the next day, soft North Baldy with a huge party at the bottom. The weather went from full fog to full bluebird and back again. Many skiers needed to rerun for they disappeared mid-run and reappeared at the bottom. I was running third-to-last.
Finally, after cleaning up Nicky Greener (who thank god is OK) off the rocks, it was my turn, and as Mike Bittner, the starter, gave me the go-ahead, a meanacing cloud rolled in from the North. I started to say "what about that clou...." but I decided to just go fast and try to beat 'er down the course and I dropped in. But then BAM! Holy shit! I looked down to the finish area and could see nothing of the 500 people and banners and tents and grills and fireworks and beers that were there moments before. I skidded to a stop 50 feet above my first feature. Luckily I was still in shouting distance with the Bittner up at the top of the course. "What should I do?!" I yelled. "Wait there!" he shouted down. And then through the radio chain it went, Bittner radioed down to tell the announcers and the judges that I was waiting out the clouds. I could hear the announcer John "Dak" Williams shouting up to me "We know what you're doing, just hang on!..." So I sat there waiting. Never done that before. Looked around... Nice view... Checked out my next feature... Looks good.... Nice clouds... Wonder if I should just ski down and get a rerun.... Nah, its so late, already... Check watch.... 4:30.... Hold tight.... "OK DREW WE SEE YOU GO!" Holy shit! Started skiing again, air, stomp, air, stomp, right turn, see takeoff, backflip, spot landing, stomp, left turn, take breath, can I hear the crowd? sweet! breathe, through shrubs, towards last air, point it, air, stomp, holy shit! I didn't crash! HOLY SHIT! Finish, celebrate. Wait to see last two competitors. What? That cloud came back? WTF? Where are they? The announcers - "We are already on 45 minutes of borrowed time, and its not our call be we can only give it 5 more minutes...." Waiting in disbelief. No clearance in sight. "We're sorry, but we have to cancel, report to the bottom for the announcement of how we will proceed tomorrow. The last two, Ducroz and Jean Michelle ski down out of the fog. FUCK! I'm not done, I know I will be skiing again in a would-have-been-cancelled superfinal. 10 minutes later, blue skies, clearest of the day. Whoa.
The meeting and the next day held many surprises as well, I will ramble more later.
like the story. nice work!
Alto- was there enough time for you 2 guys to go again? would you rather have tied for 1st or duked it out in a super, super finals?
There wouldn't have been a final day if it wasn't for a bunch of competitors who missed their starting time. We waited on top with blue skies and not one competitor was around a few different times....easily could have sent five people in that time.
Not that I care, but the competitors did it to themselves. The ski patrol held the mountain open a lot longer for them, which was really cool. When they finally called it, it looked like it wasn't going to clear for a half hour or longer. They were told to close at 4pm but pulled some strings...thanks skeepee! And of course, not all competitors were late.
Not sure if she checks this site much but I wanted to give a big ol' congrats to Tanya! She must be super psyched!!!!!!

When I was at the top it seemed obvious that it was just another 10-20 minute cloud bank rolling through, just like every other motherfucking cloud bank all day. Blue skies ahead of it, blue skies behind it. Just an observation. And it did clear 5-10 minutes after they called it, as everyone knew it would.
But its a minor detail. SSP was amazing all week. Three times they shuttled up my sick, non-ski-able, and injured friends so they could watch the comp. BIG THANKS TO STEVE MILLER SPECIFICALLY, and all of the other patrol who helped the event go off in great form. Respect!
Did the ssp give you a 2-for-1 lunch special for Mikey and your detachable sub-unit?
