Does boot bang keep you awake at night?

This is the second time in a few weeks my boot bang has woken me up in the middle of the night. It feels fine skiing, but once I lay down for a few hours, it aches like mad.

The point? The point is that this shit sucks, and I'm tired as hell but can't sleep. I just popped 3 advil, so we'll see... Anyone got any fixes, other than "get the fuck outta the backseat"? Other than booster straps, too... (I use the 3-band one between my liner and my shell.)

    Booster straps!

I swear by them, havent had shinbang, or bootbang in years since I started using them. They're great for all-round skiing too, whether it's ripping, hucking or racing.

you're obviously not tired enough. Ski harder/longer. You'll fall right asleep. Or drink heavily.

I use the same exact boot and the lateral stiffness is amazing and with stiff tongues they have more than enough for/aft stiffness to drive big stiff twins, and still let my legs absorb shocks.

Eliminator tongue pads (from Tognar, I believe). I was actually going through the same thing a few years back; I would wake up in the middle of the night with my legs throbbing. It sucked. They made my boots feel pretty mushy, but as a quick fix the padding definitely helped.

If you have really skinny lower calves and have trouble getting buckles tight enough, maybe put some padding behind your achilles? Would that work?

    Oh, yeah, Booster Straps work.

I've gotten bad boot bang only once since I bought custom fit boots two seasons ago. How 'bout dropping the dough on a good pair of boots? Do you ever stretch before skiing? In the past, I've used the same stretches I do when shin splints bother me and that has helped a lot.

edit: oops. the proper response to your thread is

    no more back slapping.
    keep your hands forward.
if you fall go forward and roll.
    better yet stick it.

it wont really go away untill you take a brake and let those muscles on the front of your heal. couple days maybe.

Is this black toe you're talking about or shin problems? Get custom footbeds for both, or better boots.

I used to get the black toe thing happening by the end of every season, and it grossed out all my prissy friends when I wore summer sandals. But it stopped when I got the footbeds. My toes are perfect this year.
