I'm really stoked to watch Teton Skiing: Legends of the Fall Line when ever this pledge drive break is over and they decide to roll film...![]()
(actually, I don't mind the pledge drives because I know they are good for the programing...)

i cant believe there has only been two Errol Morris votes so far. at least it was by two of the people i repect most on the boards.
Errol Morris defines the genre for me. he is an exceptoional filmaker. the INTERROTRON makes all the difference in his interview technique.
some of my favorites tht he has done
Vrenon, Fl
Gates of Heaven
the thin blue line
mr. death
fast cheep and out of controll
i'll leave out a brief history of time as to not nominate all his films that i have seen, but that one is worth a watch for sure.
havent seen the fog of war yet. its supposed to be amazing too.
The God Who Wasn't There
Just saw "The thin blue line" the other day, I'm a little conflicted on some of it (as to be expected I'm sure) but overall respected if not enjoyed it.
I 'd rather watch "When We Were Kings" or "Stop Making Sense" again before I watched that again, but that's me.
Thanks Iceman, "Stop Making Sense" is one of those that I've been meaning to watch for years but never got around to it. Just put it on Netflix.
Camilo, it rocks. Enjoy.
OOOOhhhh! I almost forgot! "Army of Darkness."
okbye
Legends Of The Fall Line is a must see, great footage of a genre of skiing that we rarely see, ski mountaineering. I have a speacial place for Jean-Marc Boivin. Extremement Votre. Probable my favorite movie until Steep comes out.
bump, need more, here are a couple good ones i saw recently
a crude awakening - deals with peak oil and the aftermath
white light/black rain - deals with hiroshima/nagasaki and talks to the survivors of both, its definitely a downer but how often do you get to hear first hand accounts from people who've been in a nuclear attack?
The PBS website for Frontline has a lot of quality episodes for view online.
Inside Marilyn Chambers.
Your dog just ate an avocado!
Manufactured Landscapes is amazing and very timely given what's going on in China right now.
It available for free right now on Comcast On Demand.

Lots of good ones here...particularly When We Were Kings...
I thought Touching the Void was a pretty amazing story, and let's not forget Woodstock...
I could second a lot of the ones I've seen posted already, but here's a few that nobody's mentioned yet
Brothers Keeper wrecked me for a long time. it's an amazing story. I'm not going to lie, I cried liquid tears and this thing made my heart heavy for quite a while. powerful stuff.
Ice Kings...
couple trailers for ones I'm hoping to see soon:
Pond Hockey....think they're just finishing this one up now. I don't think it's out yet.
Heroes of World Class -this one's in the mail, should have it any day now
a dad and 5 brothers: 1 mysterious death, 3 suicides, and 1 left to make this movie. and not just that family...so many early graves.

if this movie doesn't put a lump in your throat and a smile on your face, you are not human. check it out, trailer doesn't do it justice.
Fantastic choice. Adam Curtis makes my favourite documentaries I'd say. "Century of the Self" and "The Mayfair Set", both available on Google video, are also well worth a watch. I don't think "Power of Nightmares has ever been screened in the US. From the wikipedia page, a quote from Curis himself:
"Something extraordinary has happened to American TV since September 11. A head of the leading networks who had better remain nameless said to me that there was no way they could show it. He said, 'Who are you to say this?' and then he added, 'We would get slaughtered if we put this out.' When I was in New York I took a DVD to the head of documentaries at HBO. I still haven't heard from him."
I wouldn't know how "true" the content of the documentary is, but it really twists your POV around from what you're used to.
He put out a new one last year "The Trap: What Happened to Our Dream of Freedom?" but shamefully I haven't seen it yet...
A crude awakening was good, ill second that one. We watched another one at school on energy that was good too, from the other perspective. Ill try to remember the title.
One I'd definitely recommend is "Let it Ride" the Craig Kelly story. It definitely shook my perspective on life. I first saw it about 3 months ago and still haven't been able to figure out what to make of it. Great riding and killer soundtrack (especially if you like Metallica S&M).
Enjoyed the connections series recently. a bit dated but the theory of technology advancing at an ever increasing rate is holding up well 30 years later. Plus the suits are $$$.
Episodes 1 and 10 of the series 1 are the best. Available online here.
brothers keeper
paradise lost
didnt read all of the posts, so these might be duplicates, but these are hands down the two best docus i have ever seen. plus paradise lost has the cool metallica soundtrack.
nobody mentioned a new doc- King of Kong:Fistful of Quarters- alm,ost as funny as trekkies the best doc ever-
also there is a fox news doc that is great bout rupert murdoch-
HBO special on Lifetime criminals is so so good as well as Black Tar Herion
that stuff is strong
repn hills of MPLS
So many good ones listed already, and many that I haven't seen yet.
In the Shadow of the Moon - A fairly recent documentary about the astronauts who were involved in the Apollo moon flights. A Ron Howard film.
Never Name the River - Another fairly recent film. A must see for flyfishermen and women. Documents the small group of guys from Eugene, Oregon who started the Federation of Fly Fishers.
king of kong and shadow of the moon sound interesting, thanks
Deepwater, about the first around the world sailing competition. Be careful there are like 3 movies titled Deepwater.
