Yeah, I know. The last two weeks have been slow and our lodging numbers show a large increase at the end of march. Plus...many folks are trying to cram in their last ski vacation because the Airport is closing for two months on April 9th...which is prior to the mountain closing. I think a lot of people are coming knowing that the airport will be closing.

My buddy stayed in Basalt last week at a pretty cheap hotel. I don't know the name or anything, but a 20-min drive to save some money is probably worth it.

Not sure we have the time. This shit is freakin' 2 weeks away!

Give me a design, and I'll make some calls. IIRC, it took about 3 weeks for the whole process last year.

Edit: I tried (successfully) sleeping on the inflatable mattress in the back of my car last night. So that's a go for the summit, it looks like, but a place to shower and charge my phone for an hour a couple times would be most appreciated and compensated for with tasty goodies. Anybody?

St. Moritz has bunks for $40/night, 800-817-2069.

There are a couple of other places with reasonable rates. If you’re still looking for accommodations, post your dates and we can try to coordinate something.

I just booked a room at the Mountain House Lodge for myself and TreeRat. $168 per night for 2 double beds and includes breakfast. They have a 10% AAA discount which covers a little bit more than the tax. The price is about $20 cheaper for one queen bed.

Basalt is decent option. It's not very far to Aspen. There's also good touring just outside of town off fryingpan road.

We should try to figure out at least 24 hours in advance where we'll be skiing in Aspen. Looks like I'll be driving down Friday night (Like 5 fucking days from now ). Glad I checked this thread... Kept thinking for the last several weeks that Aspen was the second half of the week.

I guess the snow will tell...? Should we figure it out on Friday? What say you all?

Phish - You should come here. I am 99% sure I'm going and you can ride with me. No $$$ tix to worry about and depending on what happens with other mags over the weekend I might be heading up Sat. and crashing in the truck. Should be a good time.

damn, i wanted to make some of the summit dates, but i don't really feel like dropping the money to go ski the slop. looks like the summit will be well attended, except for the most important attendee, Ullr. i think i'd rather just get wasted at abasin.

Actually, I think the skiing will be pretty good. Regardless, I will be 1st chair on Shadow Mountain Lift everyday if anyone wants a fast tour.

Soooo, looks like potential for snow mid week. Anyone interested in stopping by Wolf Creek for $25 LAD on the way down south?

Count me out for Wolfie. Gotta do laundry and recover for a day before hiking all day Thursday and skiing Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

On what I consider a more pressing note: WHERE THE HELL ARE WE GONNA BE TOMORROW? Somebody please give me a ring (985 707 4101) in the morning and let me know which Aspen resort to drive to...

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for somewhere on the western portion of Hwy 82 that I could park my car and sleep for the night tonight, that would be terrific. By "western portion" I mean a decent rally point for the morning.

Highlands. Never been there and want to go.

    Any opposition?

Edit: I'll be at Loveland tomorrow. MIGHT be in Aspen Tuesday instead of Vail (got 3 Aspen days left to burn), but I definitely won't be there tomorrow. Didn't realize no one else would be...
