...and I cracked the base in my new pair. Awesome, exact same problem.
Happened the same way (finding rocks under the snow) but this time I was skiing pretty slow and really didn't hit it all that hard. There is almost no impact damage and yet the crack is huge and the edge separated from the base about 10cm up from the impact point by about a hair. I took them in already and Steve sounded more enthusiastic about my chances this time around.
    Big mountain or Bust.

Wow that sounds ridiculous. I've skied mine 6 or 7 days and hit a bunch of rocks but nothing really hard and no cracking issues yet for me. I'm surprised this isn't happening on ARGs or JP's as all the skis seem to have the same die cut base.

Yeah I asked steve about the other skis as well and he has only had this issue with the ANTs. He said that all the skis that are cracking have similar serial numbers (ie, produced on the same day possibly) but how can that be when the 06/07 and the 07/08 bases both crack...?

Well it happened again, either while skiing ~60cm of fresh at Sunshine on Saturday (unlikely) or while grazing a rock with an unweighted ski yesterday at Louise (more likely). I put 24 days on this pair so far. The crack is smaller than on my old pair (start of this thread) but basically the exact same problem. Again, no real edge/base material damage just the crack. I lost my camera and haven't bought a new one so no pics yet.

Hoser were you able to get your more recent pair warrantied? I'll probably ski them the rest of the year and then take them into Fresh and see what Steve thinks about warranty chances. Wish I still had all my tuning stuff so I could clean them up a bit before. This is really annoying.

It's strange to see that, I had exactly the same probleme, at the same place on the ski.
I Think that the letters are making the ski less resistant at this place....
Mines have been repaired very well, no problemes now, and it's almost invisible, I think that you need a really good shop to do that but it's doable...
