The PONTOONS were $$$ at Squaw on Friday and Saturday. Saturday I hit some heavy fresh 4' deep stuff and I just sailed through them. Friday dropping lines in Solitude and Granite Chief the Pontoons were just so much fun. My drops in Granite sucked and hurt but though: misjudged went slightly phat to way too flat.

MOMENT COMIS were getting rave review by a patroller at Rose on Friday. Neat shape.

That was quite a shitshow. I've never waited in line so much in one day. That shows how desperate we all were. I can't believe I was in line at six at 8:45 and by 11:30 I had only been able to take three runs!
Moment Comis are indeed the most kick-ass powder ski I have ever used. I love my new skis. I'm taking the AK King Salmons up Waterhouse and then out to KW today. I think they weigh about one-tenth of the Comis. Please don't go back into hibernation Ullr.

You should've been at Sugar Bowl then. I waited 10 minutes in line just after and/or about the time they opened up Lincoln. Otherwise, the lines were maybe 5 minutes long if there was a line at all.

Then again, the snow was surely substantially heavier at SB's elevation. Yesterday was a workout!

Yeah, all the KW shitshow talk is making me feel better too.

Except the morning KT wait, I basically skied hard all day. Especially, the UBER sick fresh runs from 1-4 on Gold Coast (such an underrated lift).

Shitwood- Im reading and agreeing, Kirkwood has a new attitude. I almost think that they are trying to copy Squaws business plan. That fuck that runs the snow phone is a lying biotch, snowforecast.com is full of shit and the new Pres. Cohen has a flaming cunt.

well, the Kirkwood Shitshow was in full effect, but here is a little piece of info that may change your mind a little....

Hiking up to LV today and two trollers on a sled rip by me, park at the base of the steep part of the climb and BOTH take off, leave the sled. I don't think much of it, get to the top, click in and ski LV (which was really fast and nice).

Get back down to 2 and the chair is closed, there has been a slide somewhere on the backside.

Come to find out that that very mellow bowl which is on the opposite side of the ridge from LV slid. This is the one that is skier's LEFT of the huge rock formation that contains Broccoli chute and Pencil. At first I heard rumors of a burial, but that turned out not to be true (I HOPE). It was a natural release.

If I am right about the area that slid, I have skied it once in 6 years. It is very very mellow and too mellow, IMVHO to warrant hiking to it.

I believe it is Sherwood Forest or Deadwood Gulch area, something like that.

I really have to believe that the delayed openings yesterday was due to Avy danger/control. (it was still considerable as of today, which is rare for Tahoe two days after a storm, in my experience.)

Do with that info what you will.

    does anyone have anymore details?

you woulda loved it! It was fast and smooth, with just a bit of a crusty layer on top that broke away like a Ritz cracker!

I was actually gonna ride 2 right back up for another go, as there were some areas that were nearly untracked, including your favorite little gully down the left hand side. (can't figure out how no one was skiing some of that stuff).

hmmm, thanx for that len. the avy forecast i saw today was only moderate, down from considerable yesterday. there is definately some wind slabbage out there and some relatively easy shearing of the new snow layer to the old one. a member of another party out on red lake peak today caused a little slide on a rollover in the crater lake bowl and there were a few spots that looked pretty suspect but didn't pop on us. mostly good snow albeit w/ some wind effect in the crater lake bowl and mostly variable albeit w/ some good snow in the east face gully. still good skiing but its better in the trees atop luther.
