US Freeskiing Open - Newbie Photographer

An injury is keeping me out of the ski season this year, so photography has become my new hobby. I got hooked up with a media pass to the US Freeski Open this weekend at Copper, and heres a few shots from the Pipe Qualifiers. I'm still a newbie with the camera (the threads on this board have been a huge help), so tips from the photog mags would be cool.

I got a chance to shoot that event a few years ago. I love being on the deck, shooting pipe comps.

I don't no shit about fotog. However, if asked I'll give my opinion about a lot of things.

So my 0.02:
1st and 3rd shots: too much clutter/ stuff taking away attention from skier
4th shot: too dark, outlines doing nothing for me...
2nd shot: niiiice, especially with adjustments made

It was sweet being on the deck - only one near miss when a guy came down on the lip pretty hard. Overcast light most of the day, with a little blue peaking through every now and then - wish I had a decent flash (anyone got a used one for sale? Canon 30D).
