You should thank us for keeping this damn high pressure sitting over us, sending all the low pressure systems in your direction. No respect.

Alpy was fun, but the snow was pretty thick and slabby. Lots of stuff ripped from the control work and you feel the rain crust down low.

Without even talking to Z-Bo, I'm giving this round to Stevens. Until next weekend...

I'd ski Alpy, but I could give a fuck about football. They only opened the Elevator gate so the BC will be good.

Got up at 6:00 to check conditions and Stevens was reporting a big fat 4 inches overnight. Almost made the mistake of rolling over and going back to bed due to expected January crowds, lame drivers, still not being entirely ungimped & only modest reported new snow (even allowing for yesterday afternoon/eve, etc.). cloudpeak beat on me & pointed out that those not-yet-skied Pontoons I had sitting downstairs might be feeling a bit lonely - so after deciding to uphold gaper honor, off we went. At least it'd be a play day.

Got there at 8:30 and parked 30 seconds from the lifts. When they opened we did one quick frontside lap off Tye Mill and then hopped to the backside. Started off with a first tracks run in Corona Glades & then randomly thrashed around having fun fresh turns for a while in a strangely uncrowded backside. Those Pontoons were maybe the funnest & funniest things I've ever been on. After a couple of hours my leg & side were giving out but we figured "one more"... Hopped on the lift with another Pontoon rider, asked for change & discovered it was Bandit Man - also on Pontoons for the first time. We did a run with him (fine company!) and then parted ways to head for the frontside to call it a day. cloudpeak knocked off a few shots of me on our exit run through Tye Bowl - still with fresh turns to be had in that "4 inches"...

In summary, Stevens did not suck today...

edit - oh yeah, did I mention that both quantity and quality were better on the backside (at least for the runs we did)...

skied powder all day. got paid to ski powder in the am. skiers left of southern cross near tape, bowl between 7th and tye & bobby chute = $$. medows=$$$ right side of WK was $$$ + scary with lots of moving snow. Had some one ask for change while i skied thier chair. Skied with a maggot (dug). missed my bus. got stuck skiing till 8, terrible.

ill be up tomorrow skiing what i mentioned above as it was still reasonably untracked. Come say hi if you see me I have a red and white jacket olive green helmet, bsquads, and no poles.

I guess everyone was at Alpy or apparently not at Stevens because there was no one at Crystal. Got there a bit late and there were still tons of fresh lines off of REX. You could feel the refroze underneath about 6-10 inches of soft freshies on top. I had heard that Chair 6 wasn't open but decided to head over that way about 10AM to find it running. No one around. Hit it once in nice deep light pow and decided to hike into South Country. I followed a couple of patrollers up to the King and decided to drop along the ridge along Silver Basin. I had the feeling that I had the whole basin to myself, and in fact I did. Had a slab break loose as I dropped in and skied off to the right to avoid the slough, which ran about 30' wide and about 100' down. A bit of wind load on the cornice on the ridge but it was nice and light and deep all the way down. Made four trips into South Back in all and fresh lines and no crowds. It was really a sweet day.
