    Snowboard tech- Cap strap?

What do folks think of the cap strap.

I'm really only talking Burton here- I tried the 'convertable' version Salomon had out last year and I think that was useless (didn't stay on the top of many boots! Not good).

    Skiers, hate away.

I like it. I find it to be more comfortable with no noticeable difference in performance.

I use em'. They are more comfortable and secure without the need to crank them down as heavily. Only thing you have to worry about is if you have big feet. They add a little length to the front of your boot so if you are almost getting toe drag on your board, you could have a problem. If you have plenty of room, no worries.

the old technine are my favs... i have tried alot of them too

most (burton) are fitted) so its not a airtight fit but it still out preforms the over the toe strap (more toeside control) heelside is still about even from my expieriences

the technines really shine, its some kind of thick elastic rubber and these things grip so hard and are so simple. i ride last years MFM Pros and they are the best binder i have ever ridden.. definatley a noticable improvment in riding first run out

try and if you like it then rock n roll and if you dont just put the old straps on =)

It's where our souls belong....The only solution is to confront them--confront yourself--with the greatest fear imaginable. Expose yourself to your deepest fear. After that, fear has no power, and fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free." -Jim Morrison

I think they're worse than the normal straps. Slightly more comfortable but I like the feel of the toe strap on the top of my foot. I spent 2 seasons on the Burton Cap strap then got some convertible ones that worked both ways well for me. It was only when I could try them back to back that I realized the normal strap position was better for me.

i like the cap straps but, i only rode them half of last season and one thing i noticed was they kept slipping up the boot. the cap would come off the boot still strapped in but not doing anything. i bought the burton ones and have burton ion boots. i will say they are way more comfortable and do provide some more control. my only complaint is that they dont stay where they are supposed to.

Wouldn't your question be more direct if you asked opinions of freeriders vs park rats?

This ain't snowboard.com. If it were I'd have asked whether the new bling-neon was the way to go or if I should stick with the Shaun White color scheme? Also should I do meth? And how much flair should I tie to my pants? Lastly, what's a good way to get rid of acne and what's the deal with my sticky sheets in the morning?

wow, I'm bored and bitter at work today.

well, I guess that is funny since you tell skiers to hate away and then dis park rats. I guess rats might be a bit derogatory in the first place, but I have heard several people that ride park refer to themselves as that, so I wasn't dissin' ....and yes, I know of a few maggot boarders (and skiers) that ride park.

But, I don't, and so I am interested in your question too, because if caps are good for freeride I might try some soon when I get some more binders.

Park rats love them because after you've already sagged your trousers and your goggles, toe straps are really the only thing left to sag.
