REBECCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
REBECCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Atley's wife Laura was there with the kids to feed the crew.
Cute little Amish baby girl.....
Sadly, this little guy who was at previous barn raisings was killed in a horse buggy accident a year or so ago.

Greta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bruno did not hit it off with the Amish at all.....
But they ignored him and quickly the walls were up.
As mentioned before, all of the Amish limp from falls. They all carry too much weight and do crazy stuff with big logs. Elder Jerry works as hard as anyone.

i guess your area does not have building inspectors..........
wow, i just read all 9 pages of this thread and all i can say is that is very impressive. Ive spent a decent amount of time out in Amish country in Lancaster PA. You are right, the rules and "regulations" vary from each community. I have met some who do not have electricity in their houses, while others were listening to music and seen in cars. All based on the established values of the community in which they live.
and you are right, they do not like their pictures taken, esp when driving their buggies. Although their culture is foreign to many of us (myself included) every Amish that I have met has been incredibly polite and respectful, and for sure a good work ethic.
congrats on the barn, looks like a great time for some winter/summer camping and parties. Will, GL on getting the newly legal Amish girlie in that hot tub with you....
That's a fuckload of weight to be sitting on a little concrete disk buried in loamy soil.
Glad to see they got a beam saw though, especially since they are the kings of chainsaw sketchiness.
olga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Amish rules sure do vary, not only from Amish community to Amish community, but also within the community itself.
Here's an example. In the past the Amish have hired "English" drivers to bring them the 4 hours up to north central Wisconsin, where the barns are. This year elder Jerry showed up behind the wheel of this huge passenger van towing a trailer full of tools. No English in sight. The Amish may have gotten together as a community and decided to allow one of them to get a license and a vehicle in order to save the money. This wasn't the case 5 years ago when the first barn went up.

That is cool in a way. It would teach you how to make your own off the grid mj growing palace in the mountains. But their rules suck almost as hard as their daughters when they leave home.
