    Jet Boil Fuel Questions

I am plannning a 4 night, 5 day solo trip in the Sierra in September and had some questions about Jet Boil fuel options. I have access to both the Jetboil Jet Power Isobutane/Propane Fuel (net weight 100g, 200g including fuel canister) and the MSR IsoPro Fuel (net weight 227g, 355 w/canister).

I am wondering which I should take on my trip. How long does the 100g Jet Power fuel last? How long does the 227g MSR fuel last? The Jet Power canister has the added advantage of fitting inside the 1liter Jetboil cooking cup.

Regarding my trip, I know I will not be melting snow, but I am not sure if I will be using fast cook items like mashed potato flakes or cooscous, or go with items that need to simmer for a while like quinua or whole wheat pasta. If going with the fast cook items would let go with one 100g Jet Power cartridge, I would consider it, but I might want the better nutritiounal value of the longer cook items.

    Suggestions?

I can't help with fuel consumption figures, but I'll tell you that the larger canisters do make a considerably more stable base. If you're doing any simmering a more stable base will come in handy.

take a look on the box, it will tell you how long their canisters will last.

The Jetboil will be more efficient than those MSR figures with the same fuel.

Dedicated people with postage scales know how much a full cannister weighs and how much an empty cannister weighs. THey know exactly how much fuels is in a half used cannister before they hit the trail.
