seriously, though...if they're asking this guy for CC #s right away, this doesn't sound legit at all -- pure scam, even moreso than telemarketing.

We've definitely tried the "Please remove us from your list" approach. They'll hang up at the "re-." Seriously. They aren't standard telemarketers.... like I said in my initial post, I don't really have too much of a problem with your typical telemarketer.
Annoying as shit.
Turning the ringer off is an option, though not a great one. She'll invariably forget. The numbers they call from vary, though I suspect it's all the same "company."
They're sneaky assholes who obviously don't give a shit....
One of the conversations my wife had with them went sort of like this....
wife: please take us off your list.
TM: didn't you want to hear about our great deal on a dish?
wife: no, i'm happy with my cable service, i'm not ever going to switch, please don't call here again. You just woke up my baby.
TM: but we can save you $$$ per month. Don't you want to save money for your baby?
wife: no. Please take me off your list.
TM: Daaaaaamn. <click>

One time she asked who she was speaking to and they hung up on her.
No chance of ever getting a "supervisor" or call-back number. I'd report them, but I don't have anything to report. I don't know who it is. Short of actually ordering the "service" I don't know what else I can do.... How do you sleuth that kind of thing? The number they're calling is a brand-new number. We started getting the calls almost as soon as the phone company connected the service.... so it isn't like we gave our number to the wrong person.

Start recording the calls
turn them over to the state AG

Turn off your ringer, and turn up the volume on your answering machine. Change your greeting to something like:
"Hi, this is Focus and I'm screening my calls because the doucherockets at dish won't leave me alone. Just start talking and I'll pick up, or leave a message if I don't. And if you're from dish, go get fucked, you fucking cockbiting fucktard."
Either that or play the parrot game with the peon on the other end until you get the bossman
them: blah blah blah
you: I need to speak to your supervisor right now
them: blah blah blah
you: I need to speak to your supervisor right now
etc...
Going postal on the telemarketer has worked for me as well, just make sure to use lots of profainity, and no direct threats to the person.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

We may try screening the calls, but the second they feel like you *might* not buy something from them they hang up.Originally Posted by DJSapp

I am re-reading this thread and I just remembered something.
Last winter, my mom was dying of cancer and my parents kept getting calls from Dish Network asking them to pay their back due bill of $350. My parents are elderly, they didn't even know what Dish Network was.Every time they called, they kept threatening a law suit unless my dad gave them his credit card #.
If anyone here has elderly parents, you can relate to this...they didn't mention this to me until it had been going on for like 6 months.
It took me two weeks of BS to discover that it was indeed Dish Network and not some independent scammer. They had been doing this to hundreds of people who had never subscribed to their service.
According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's office, Dish Network telephone solicitors had been mining just enough info from sales calls to sign people up who never wanted the service. The sales person collected the commission and the poor schmuck on the other end of the line never knew he was being billed for a service he didn't know he had.
Criminal charges were filed and all back debt was forgiven
Be careful of these assholes

You can sign up with your local phone company to not receive calls from blocked numbers.
I'd still tell em to suck on something at, least once.

I got on it right away, and honestly get maybe 3 solicitations a week now vs 4 a day previous. Costs nothing. Highly Recommend it.

some of my favorite tactics for dealing with these asshole at work.
I say "I am very interested can I put you on hold?" all most never to pick up again, sometimeI will pick up just to see if they stick around, some do then I try to sell them something.
Hand the phone off to my 5 year old niece and have here scream at them as high pitch as possiable. I just tell her the phone people on hte line again and htey want to hear her scream. as long as she doesnt start doing this real people its all good (yes I am good influnce on her or not).
One time I was called for dance lessons(WTF lol) I handed off to my quad dad and made up a sob story on how he cant dance cause he cant walk and then he just busted out laughing, they were so apologetic.
sry none of these help but Do not call list should work.
I know they keep calling from different numbers, but have you tried using a reverse directory with any of the numbers to see if it's listed? There are a few reverse directories online, though I don't know any off the top of my head.
If you tell them to stop calling there supposed to put you on a list and stop. You can also go to the website they have for the national dont call list. do that and until it goes into effect yell at them and say really innapropriate and dirty things, thats what i do!
this solution takes some work, but will do damage and stop the calls.
Go to the classifieds section of your local weekly paper or craigslist and find the ads recruiting people to work in these call centers. Sometimes they'll mention Dish in the ad, sometimes not - you may have to call around.
Once you've ID'd a Dish dealer who runs a call center ask who ever is doing the hiring if there is any local competition. They will either know who else you should go after or they will tell you they are the only gig in town, which may be a lie.
At this point you have names of companies doing this business and you can submit those names to BBB, AG, Dept of Consumer Affairs, Chamber of Commerce, whoever. You can also do the leg work to find out who manages or owns the companies and get to them. Know what your legal threat will be and keep your game tight when discussing this with the bossman or owner. If you want to instead burn down their buildings, don't go on record anywhere.
