    paging camera geeks....Camera cases

Looking at upgrading my camera, which unfortunately means I will probably no longer be able to OR want to carry my camera in my pocket of my jacket. The cam's I am looking at are in the neighborhood of (4.8 x 2.9 x 2.8 in) and my old one was a full inch less wide and 1 inch less deep.

So what do you cameraheads out there recommend for a carrying case. I do a lot of "ski really fast down in front of the pack, not much set up time, pull her out and shoot" type photos (maximize ski time and stoke).

I don't want to keep the camera inside my pack (at least when skiing inbounds).

I want to find as small of a case as possible that I can maybe strap on my waist strap or even hang off the shoulder strap (and not look like a goon) Needs to be somewhat snowproof and fast access.

    Recommendations?

btw - looking at this guy - http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canong5/page2.asp

Look at Lowe Pro camera bags...have one and love it. It has detachable side pods for lenses and wears as a comfy fanny pack whcih can also be shoved into a backpak. Decent protection especially in the pack behind the shovel blade.

Bastard! Gimme that G5! I could only afford the A70.

I second the rccomendation of Lowe Pro. Look for their gear marked AW.

For such an itty bity cam I take it you wanna hang it off your neck and/or tuck inside your jacket and ski. OpTech makes some NICE neoprene straps and waterproof soft wrap cases. For something like a case w/ a couple small pockets for memory cards, etc. Eagle creek makes a lil zippered carry case I use for my mini dv cam, hang it off my chest strap of pack. Dont think its actually designed as a video cam case but hey.....

checkout bhphotovideo.com they might have what you're lookin for. I've had good luck w/ them.

Mini Pelican case. It's pretty heavy, but waterproof, bomb-proof, and quick access.
