I have the EVOC chainsaw pack, and I've ridden with it a fair amount. Both with my little milwaukee electric saw and with the bigger husqvarna w/a 24" bar.

Like others have said, I only do that if I need to. And if it's a ride that involves much distance or climbing, I'm only doing it on the ebike - pedaling uphill with that pack kinda sucks. Going downhill is fine though. Just gotta remember that you've got a chainsaw sticking out of your pack that's gonna try to catch on a branch and rip you off the bike.

sometime I donot know how much cutting there is so I start cutting and realize there is blowdown everywhere so the sthil might have been a better option

I have also come back the next day with the sthil and somebody has done the job

I was trying to reset the chain tension by removing cover & starting from scratch… and was failing. Then I thought maybe I’ll try a new chain. Still not happening…I think I must be missing some critical step.

When I go to put the last bit of tightness on the clutch cover, it seizes up & chain won’t spin. I’ve redone it over & over & I’m just wasting my own time at this point.

New chain is correctly sized for bar. Older one was too.
Bar is not bent afaict. Bar slot is clean. Pulley teeth at tip are not damaged or missing.
Clutch sprocket isn’t broken or missing teeth.
Chain is facing correct direction.
I can hold the clutch cover on and spin the chain.
I screw on the clutch cover nut hand tight.
Chain seems to be cleanly pulling through the clutch sprocket.
Until I tighten the cover with the wrench.
As I tighten it, I can hear metal contact if i test the chain as I go. If I back off the nut, the chain releases.

This saw was running earlier today - what the hell am I doing wrong?

Any tips on what I should check before I take it to a pro?

Thoughts off the top of my head
Is there something between the body of the saw and the bar that’s forcing the bar away from the body? Are the guides correctly installed?
Is s there a spacer of some sort missing on the cover side?
Is the chain brake misaligned somehow? Is the chain brake (accidentally) activated and grabbing the mechanism?
Is the starter cord and mechanism correctly aligned?
Is the chain tensioner adjusted correctly?

1) foreign object/schmutz? I will check didn’t consider this

2) no missing space/parts to my knowledge. I will double check with the manual

3) yes, possible chain brake gear is off in some manner. I didn’t disengage it the first time I went to pull the clutch cover. But I realigned the gear (I had to, LOL) to remove the cover. Will recheck.

4) starter isn’t near the bar assembly on this saw

5) tensioner is ok

^^^Been through similar w an aftermarket bar. It acted exactly like your does, I tried everything you have so I was perplexed. I happened to turned the bar upside down, redid everything and it ran and still runs today, but only w the bar upside down. Unfortunately I have no explanation for why.
