    Bit by a leprechaun

    leprechaun

n : a mischievous elf in Irish folklore

So there I was, minding my own damned business, zingin' down a real nice smooth, fairly clear section of road in the vicinity of where the Monarch crest trail turns into the Rainbow trail and, BAM!!! all of a sudden the bike & I are sideways (horizontal) up in the air coming in for a touchdown at mach II. Of course by the time we hit I'm sure the bike was higher... You all know how that goes, right? Well, we disapeared into a fog of dust & almost piled up against a tree about 30-40 ft further along said "nice, smooth" road.
Oooooouuuuuuuccccccchhhh!!!!! Mu*%#t&%#*h@&$r F*^#k#@&r !!!! The left side of my body from my shoulder to my ankle is beat to crap.
WTF?!? I mean WTF?!? No, really, WTF?
I have no clue as to what happened. We looked at tracks - a single skid mark for a few feet, not really anything in the way of rocks... Possibly a stick got in the spokes & locked up the front tire ? - unlikely.
I'm goin' with that mischievous lil' bastard the leprechaun - after all, I'm Irish and it was right there by the Rainbow trail & it had been rainin'.

Are you sure it wasn't a gremlin? They're experts at sabotage.

ahh ha! I think that little Irish bastard got me too: about 6 yrs ago, hammering down the Monarach Crest Trail in the big ring, big grin on my face, when BAM - I think my pedal hit a rock on the down stroke, and ZING, I flew off the trail about 15 feet and landed (still clipped in) on a big rock right on my thigh - ouch. Deep bone bruise, and a purple/yellow'ish technocolor bruise from my ass cheek down to below my knee - good times, good times...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That was 'bout the first thing out of my buddies mouth afterwards - He was right behind me and was like: "Aw man, I wish I'd a had the video runin'. That was awesome!"

After a few days of bandaging myself up, I've decided that the worst part is the bikini waxing my arm & leg have been going thru a couple times a day. And of all times for me to be batchin' it - do you know how hard it is to tape a 4 x 8 bandage to one arm with only one hand?
