RIP Robie. Good dog.
RIP Robie. Good dog.
The sacrifices I have made for my dogs are of no consequence, because it means I get to see them every day. I've found that people who don't have "just a dog" lose a lot of credibility when they give me advice on what to do with my life. It's not that they don't mean well, they just don't understand I'm happy to put my girls first when I'm deciding where to move and other life changes. I figure anywhere I live will be OK as long as I come home to my aussie/border mix. She watches me leave for work out the window, and gives me kisses when I come home. In my opinion, it's totally worth it.
Take it easy ... if it's easy take it twice.

" I think about it everyday. It is my reminder to live life to the fullest. I get up early, go to bed late, 'cuz I got shit to do. Like I said, I'm 61. Not going to wait till I'm 81 to do stuff, ...
Get out there and do stuff!
Enjoy life to the fullest!!
See you on the slopes! "
My best friend has really slowed down over the last few months. I took him to the vet today to see what was up and was told he has a inlarged heart which in turn has created a fairly advanced heart murmer. Fuck. Anyways, I am taking him to have his heart ultrasounded tomorrow to see what the specialist says our options are to keep him comfortable for as long as possible.
I am kind of in denial at the moment. I just can't believe the end of our time together will be here sooner than later. Good news is I know what is up with him, so I can love him even more, every day we have left together.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

That is all I need to know about that person.............................![]()
Feeling anxious, a little paranoid.
snowhot, that's a great looking pup you've got. i love the black and tan markings.
liv2ski, my thoughts are with you. this is not an easy time, but you may find good news. dogs are strong and amazing animals and continue to surprise us.

vibes, liv2ski... Give him your best. I'm sure you will.
Gravity. It's the law.
Jester has been suffering from some long term side effects of being hit by a car when he was a puppy.
He had(has) a broken leg in the growth plate of his tibia. The Fib is growing okay but the tibia can't keep up. Each time he has a growth spurt he seems to have issues, which he learns to deal with then he grows again and it has become a vicious cycle.
The good news is that he doesn't let it get him down.
I'm hoping that he'll stop growing long enough for the leg to catch up, because he loves the snow and would be a great ski buddy.
He Loves the snow!

Sometimes you have to let your bad self ski...
My dog Mickey reminded me why dogs are so cool yesterday. She is a black lab with one missing front leg and when she walks/runs it's takes serious effort on her part. She lunges/hops and basically uses her core muscles to support her self. So yesterday we had basically blizzard conditions, high winds, etc. and I decided to let her get out and enjoy it. We went out for a while and every time I would turn around to go home, she would dig into the snow and not budge. It was like she had some internal compass that knew I was headed back. Not only is she missing that leg but she's also 11.5 years old. She literally would've stayed out all day.
^^^a snow day with your best friend. i wouldn't want to go back home either.

I feel for you mang, i am going through something similar with my ol' boy, my best friend since 2000-his brain and his front end works, his hind end, barely on a good day. I am beyond on borrowed time with him, so much so I had to give him the best present I possibly could after all the years and gifts he has given me-I had to leave him at my folks when I moved back to AK. Yes he has the BEST doggie retirement home possible, however, the chance of me seeing my best friend again are very slim. Give your best friend a big ol hug, an extra treat and a few extra scratches, you never know when it only be a memory you are feeling, not the cold nuzzle of their wet nose's. Good luck and best wishes!!!
Our world is full of surrender at the first sign of adversity, do not give up when the challenge meets you, meet the challenge. Through perseverance comes the rewards, the rewards that make life so enjoyable.

Sidewall, its pretty good stoke when you have a dog that love being outside in the snow as much as you do, eh?
Even with Jester's issues with his leg, he loves it outside. Its amazing how these incredible dogs don't let physical issues get them down.

Doooood, you're killing me. Made tears well up in my eyes thinking about my pup. Every time I leave my parents' place I always give extra extra love to my boy Buck. His hind quarters are failing, and he's slowed way down. He's 13 or 14, so every time I see him I realize it could be the last.
Much love to the dogs who bring so much peace and joy to their people!

Poor guy - hope he heals quick!
I am in DC for interviews for a week and 1/2 and dog is back in Jackson with friends. I know he is having a blast and I can't believe how much I miss him. Counting down the days until I am back.
Dogs rock.
Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.
Sympathies and empathy to live and dk and all others with hurtin critters.
I love my dog (Daisy) and my cat(Sparky). I know many people hate cats but I think they are cool too. My cat is cool. He tries to kill everything smaller than him, and practices killing the dog. He is very affectionate but he'll scratch the shit out of you if you fuck with him. Daisy is a fat stinky cocker spaniel and a damn good dog.
I'm too broke to afford four digit vet bills, but I'd do much for my animals.
This may sound nuts but I appreciate the honesty of animals. I frequently prefer their company to that of any human.

Platinum Pete, your little buddy looks so sad.
Hope he heals well.
Muleskinner, I know what you mean about missing your dog. The last three ski trips I went on alone, I missed my dog more than my husband.![]()

You can the toughest guy on earth, but when you put your best friend down, you will cry like a baby. Been there too many times...and will do it again.....for the love of dogs.
The dog my girlfriend and I have may not what many people think is a 'cool' dog. He is just an 10 month old fully grown 11lbs mini dachshund, but he is the happiest little guy in the world. Every time I come home from work or wherever he acts like it is the greatest thing to ever happen.
