    Snowbird Comp: Results Are IN!

for now i'm just gonna skip to the meat and potatos here. ..

little buddy, Nick Greener took top honors for the men and Laura Ogden held it down for the ladies.

They gave out TWO, count'em TWO, sickbirds this year. The first one went to vitual unknown, unsponsored, local Alta ripper Stacy Cash for chargin down that venue like it was her freaking job! And the second one went to Christian Boucher out of Whistler who was 2nd going into day 2 and completely tearing North Baldy a new one.

ALSO, I'd like to recognize Miss Fineline for the first sickbird nomination of the day AND the largest attempted huck of any female skier all day. That definitely gets obligatory trademarked and patented BIG UPS

Maybe he was hoping to please the crowd, not build publicity.

All I can say for sure is, as a member of the crowd, I was very pleased.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Beatering down Y-couloir and getting more injured than a guy who front flipped the most impressive air Ive ever seen, looks to me like his risk was a little more calculated then yours. Why the hate?

Hmmm...I *happened* to be riding by the venue (really, I was there for a total of three minutes) when I heard the announcer babbling on about sickbird...it was Bouchard's run , I saw the last bit of it...cool stuff!

Nick Devore ended up 48th after day one, so he did not advance. He's a sick skier though, I've competed against him before. By 'competed against', I mean 'been beaten by'.

just my $0.02, which most of the time don't mean shit anyway - at least not on the internet.

btw, here's the link to the complete final results - finally up this morning

Two points on Julian's choice of air:
    1. If he doesn't lose a ski, he moves on to the finals.
    2. The landing zone is typically skied out, but due to the area being closed for the comp, it was good to go.

I'm sure Julian was quite disappointed that he didn't advance.
