Salomon X Wave 10 Fast vs. Free

Does anyone know the technical difference(s) between the two boots, aside from the marketing fluff about one boot being for on-piste and the other for off-piste?

I think the Free might have padding under the footboard? I just got the Frees and they are great - def. stiff enough for all but the most serious gate-training but have the nice Solly flex and fit...but I think the differences between the two is really not that much...

same boot (and same as the Xwaves, crossmax too)
also the 10 is just about the same as the 9 only have 2 tnuts missing and $50 - $100 more price.

buy some older Xwave9's, add 2 tnuts in the pre drilled and marked holes, and save a bunch I bet

just got some new 9's... they don't have the shock absorbing zeppa, which i had on my promodels, which i sorta wish i had on these. too gimmicky to get too worried about, though.

as an aside, any way of acquiring the rubber zeppa to replace the hard plastic one?

you can order a padded boot board from salomon, but I've skied both with the rubber and without, I can't feel a difference.

You notice if you hit a lot of hard pack park tables. As for regular skiing I didn't notice a difference. Maybe if you were a racer hard snow performance may not be as good with the soft board in.
